My elderly father is doubly incontinent and due to the layout of their house his carers have to do a certain amount of his personal care in his main living room.
This has meant that the carpet occasionally gets in a bit of a mess. I recently used a friends Bissell Spot clean Pro carpet cleaner to give it a going over and was amazed what a difference it made. The carpet came up very well and was also touch dry after a only 10 minutes or so. However this is a machine is really designed for small areas and you do need to be on your hands and knees to use it.
Am looking for an upright carpet cleaner that will do the same job. Need one that is the same size as a normal Shark cleaner (ie not Rug Doctor size) as again space is a problem
So far have looked at a Sharp CarpetXpert which looks OK, size is good  but some folks say it leaves the carpet quite damp
Can any recommend one they have used and particularly comment on the drying time after use
Thanks

U may find hiring a steamer from B&Q for example of use ........ or push the boat out and get a professional company in.  The latter may last a lot longer between cleaning requirements as they may be able to 'scotch guard' or similar across the surface to protect from spills.

We have an upright VAX which I can't even push around so when it's filled  :-\ it's also hot work!

Not an answer to your question by my father took to peeing in a corner of his bedroom (he had dementia), when urine gets in the floorboards it's impossible to stop it smelling. So really recommend you have a rubber underlay or put something waterproof under the carpet if you have wooden floorboards.

We had a vax upright but to be honest it wasn’t much good so I would avoid that one if others are available

Did look at the Vax but came to same conclusion that it was too heavy.
Also thought about getting professionally done but as it will need to be done regularly it should be cheaper to buy one (I hope).

I’ve been using the Vax Platinum SmartWash for a while now and it's been solid. It’s upright, easy to use (no crawling around), and does a decent job drying, usually touch dry in about an hour, sometimes less if I open windows or use a fan. Not too bulky either, fits in a tight cupboard. Definitely worth a look if space and drying time are priorities.

I would get a professional company in first, ask about scotch guard etc. looking at DIY machines too.  It may B that if U need cleaning regularly that a Company will give you a discount ;-).

let us know how you get on.  How's your Dad overall?

CKLD - Useful thought about regular contract cleaner
He comes and goes as with many older folk with dementia. Our main aim is to keep him at home with our Mum so he's in familiar surroundings  When mess is made we need to be able to reassure him that it's not a problem and easily cleaned. Also any sort of machinery seems to spark his interest  :)
Looking at the VAX at the moment but my head is spinning so will have another look at this tomorrow X

Update on the cleaner
Thanks minicat for the suggestion  of Vax platinum Smart wash. Purchased one from Currys and have cleaned 2 of the carpets in our house which came up lovely
Have now been and done Dad's CREAM! Coloured carpet. Amazing what a difference . It will need another going over as it was very manky and need to do some spot cleaning in certain parts. It is quite heavy when full but did glide quite smoothly. Got pretty filthy but easy to take apart and clean the rollers etc.
So pleased . Will be doing more when the weather cools down a bit x

Yes he did and Mum was overjoyed. I'm still in the Will ;D
They are both over 90 . Mum does some of the cleaning but the heavy stuff is too much for her now and the state of the carpet was getting her down.  It's amazing how having a nice fresh floor can cheer you up
