Utrogestan pure confusion 🥺
« on: July 29, 2025, 02:04:30 PM »

Hey ladies

So I’m on my first month of HRT.

Mega health anxiety sufferer & normally taking an meds very precisely to ease a worries but I think I’ve royally messed up and it’s worried me.

I began 2 pumps of gel nightly in 1st July. Commenced 2 oral utrogestan 100mg nightly on day 15.

I was told 2 weeks by my gp. The sticker on the packet says ending Day 28 & the instructions inside the box say Day 26….

So I’m not sure which one but I’m sure I’ve taken them too long whichever option it’s supposed to be 😫😫😫

Sent my health anxiety thru the roof 😓 is there any increased risk of cancer taking too many?

I daren’t Google it incase it’s bad.

I have a bit of a period but I think I was supposed to expect that around now 🤷‍♀️

Sorry to waffle. I’m just not sure when I recommence utrogestan now and for how many days I take it.

Will try & get thru to the chemist at some point but meltdown is full flow 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ x

I’ve taken those until last night which was Day 29 & I just saw it was supposed to be Day 26

It won't matter that you took a day or 2 extra.  Some women take that dose continuously depending on their requirements.  The easiest way to take utrogestan cyclically is to take it for 2 weeks on/2 weeks off regardless of your period.  So if you started it on Tuesday 15th July for 2 weeks you'd be due to start it again on Tuesday 12th August for 2 weeks, and so on.  Or you can start it on the same date each month for the prescribed number of days, so take it on 15th August for 2 weeks.  Whichever way is easier for you to remember is fine.  Waiting for a period to start to count as day 1 is not ideal as your periods may not stay regular during perimenopause.

Thank you so much Grace 🙏

Excuse my OCD brain but Day 15-26 is 12 days (says on packet) and other instructions say Day 15-28 which is 14 days, is it 12 or 14?

Sorry if these are daft questions 😳

And to top it off the packet has enough for 15 days so that really put the cherry on top 😂 xx

It should be 12 days, days 15-26 then you bleed a couple of days later on day 1 (at least in theory). If you have a reasonably regular cycle on my experience it's much better to stick to your own cycle, hrt is designed to work with your body, it won't override your own cycle. Sticking to calendar days is fine when you don't have a strong cycle of your own but better to keep the two in step if you do. It doesn't matter if you take too much utro. Some GPS tell you it's 14 days but I think that's mostly if you're on patches you take it for 14 days.
