Here we go again- slynd this time though
« on: July 26, 2025, 01:25:12 PM »

I have a history of being intolerant to any continuous progesterone .
The gp is insisting I go on conti due to my age etc.I am 57 and have been on everol 100 and a form of sequi regime all that time. I can just about cope with the progestins if I can have a break from them.
Just before I started HRT I had the mirena put in. It was a disaster. Horrendous pain and proper continuous bleeding. I had it removed.
So now I am trialing slynd as a conti. I got to the end of the first packet and was hopeful it might be ok.
A few days ago I started spotting, now I am full on bleeding and the pain is yet again horrendous. It feels likes my insides are being scraped out.
I have a follow up appointment next week to see how I am getting on. I literally can’t function. My mood has dipped and even strong pain killers aren’t helping much with the pain.
I had a scan recently which showed my womb lining was fine on the sequi regime.
Can I just stop taking the slynd now?
I just want to go back to the regime that worked for me- which was norithisterone for 12 days each month.
I feel so despondent that the drs are pushing me to go on a regime that simply doesn’t work with my body.
Thanks

They aren't watching so personally I'd go back on the sequi regime that suits you. I had the same argument aged 62 (utro side effects) and the NHS meno clinic agreed I could stay on sequi, they said there is a slightly higher risk of endometrial cancer with sequi. Some women aren't menopausal til their early 60s so your age alone does not mean you're meno. If you're still peri it's likely you'll bleed anyway unless you have a mirena.
