Is continual ewcm normal in peri ?
« on: July 08, 2025, 05:49:31 AM »

Hi ladies, I'm 52 now, came off HRT 2 years ago, not many symptoms apart from very heavy periods and crepe skin 😞.
This last 4 weeks though I've had continuous ewcm, for the whole month 😳 and no period for 2 months, is this normal in peri ?  I presume I have high estrogen levels ?
I was very ill a month ago with a lung infection and partially collapsed lung, not sure if that would be the cause ?

Hello Lillith

Unfortunately I don't understand what you mean by ewcm.  Perhaps the treatment for your lung infection has impacted your oestrogen levels?  I know that in the past women on the birth control pill were told to use extra contraception if taking antibiotics.

Hopefully someone will be along soon to advise you.

Take care.

The only thing that's normal in peri is that everything goes haywire. Hormones fluctuate so much in peri I wouldn't worry about it, the only certainty is that everything will be different.

I used to read about ewcm all the time on the infertility boards - eventually I worked out it meant "egg white cervical mucus".

Whilst I can see some merit in looking for signs of ovulation to minimise fruitless intercourse in long haul trying-to-conceive naturally, I can't imagine why anyone would be inspecting their knickers in such detail outwith this situation!

It's always good to keep an eye on any changes in vaginal discharge as any changes can be a sign of something wrong. I once had changes and it turned out I had a cervical polyp which had to be removed and checked to see if it was cancerous, luckily it wasn't.
