Hello!
« on: July 07, 2025, 02:08:43 PM »

Hi everyone! I'm new on here so wanted to introduce myself ! Hope I'm in the right place 😁.
I'm Jo from North Wales. I'm almost 65 and been struggling with my moods, depression, fatigue and energy for the past 3 years.
I've been back and to to my GP and for a long time I've been looked upon as it I'm neurotic or a nuisance! Non of these GPs have ever mentioned menopause to me during any of my appointments so I brought the subject up myself. They said 'no, you must be through menopause by now, youre just anxious and depressed'. Yes I'm both because nobody is listening to me....sound familiar?? I insisted on trying HRT and of course we all want instant results !! But id like to ask some questions on here.

I'm on oestrogel transdermal gel on both arms plus progesterone orally nightly.
Been on these since April this year.
My mood has lifted however I'm not "quite there yet" as regards anxiety and fatigue.
Is it too early in the day to see results? Am I being too impatient? I feel like coming off it as I'm struggling with sore breasts, tiredness from the progesterone is awful, and I'm thinking I'm going back down the road of depression and anxiety which I find scary. It was a lonely road feeling so awful the last 3 years.
Do I hold on until it kicks in ?
Thanks guys 🙏

My anxiety took the full 3 months to go completely but I started seeing some improvement mostly in month 2. I would try a couple of weeks without the utro (obviously not safe long term) as it does give some people fatigue (I'm one). If you find you're good on oestrogen only you can try a different progestogen. You can try utro vaginally, it may solve it for you though it didn't for me.

Sorry but your Dr is wrong, some of us never get "through" menopause as he/she put it, I'm 62 and still suffer some symptoms.

:beat: :kick: your GP should take early retirement  >:(

So many medics still don't understand The Change: Peri-menopause which arrives several years prior to our last period = menopause.  Nausea, anxiety, panic attacks, depression ........ various aches and pains as oestrogen levels drop.

I had low libedo in my 20s, GPs put it down to depression.  Like U I was depressed because no one was listening  >:( and knew it was hormonally based.

My cold flushes began after I realised that my periods had stopped as well as itchy insteps every evening and down from the back of my neck to waist level after my bath. The latter went after a few months but itchiness continues in various parts of me: deep in the ears, VA, scalp ....... as well as almost constant tinnitus  ::)

Many find the progesterone part of a regime difficult to tolerate.  mayB keeping a mood/food/symptom diary may be of use?  Let us know how you get on. Browser round,  make notes ;-)
