100mg utrogestan daily
« on: July 01, 2025, 01:52:51 PM »

Hi,

I have been on 50mg Evorel & 100mg Utrogestan for 6 days now. Was put on it as had awful anxiety, depresiion, insomnia, night sweats fron being given zoladex injections to shut down hormones for potential hysterectomy. I stopped the injections 6 5 weeks ago after the 2nd one as not given add back hrt

I am 55 & not had a period for 2.5 years.

My question is will 100mg everday be too much? I have been feeling dizzy, a bit sedated but it could also be down to the zoladex withdrawal

I am on utrogestan 100mg daily and felt like this when I first started it, a bit sort of spaced out, drunk feeling but after about 2-3 weeks those feelings stopped.

I'm afraid it takes longer to work. Flushes usually go within a couple of weeks but my anxiety and insomnia took the full 3 months to go completely with very little improvement in the first month. If you think utro is the problem you could trial a couple of weeks without it and ask for a different one if it turns out it's the problem but perhaps it's better to give it a bit longer.

Hi Summer25,

I take my Utrogestan vaginally. If you have the little round capsules they don't have to be swallowed. The menopause consultant I spoke to said using them vaginally (when you got to bed or they fall out  :) ) reduces the systemic effects so you are less drowsy. I couldn't function I was so tired taking them orally and I'm fine now.
