Hi ladies,
I am on local estrogen for horrible vaginal atrophy which started about a year ago. I was on Ovestin and one month ago, I successfully switched to Vagifem after Ovestin started irritating my skin.
I haven't relied on natural therapies for relief to be honest (which I would usually dabble in), because the issue is obviously a lack of estrogen. However, I did find out something interesting about a fortnight ago which has provided extra relief.
I had COVID and I started straight away on tissue (or cell) salts. After the initial 'first aid' salt called Ferr Phos, I started day 2 with Nat Mur (long name Natrum Muriaticum). This salt is specifically for fluid balance. In layman's terms - if you are too wet (runny nose) or too dry (in my case, atrophy), it can help to balance out the body. Not only did it help my COVID disappear by day 4, but I noticed at the same time that the usual niggly symptoms of atrophy were absent. In fact, I had the most comfortable week in a year!
So, I have continued to use the Nat Mur loosely - just 3-4 little tabs per day at no particular time and I am still feeling pretty good.
When I researched Nat Mur for vaginal atrophy, I discovered it is recommended by natural therapists.
The brand I use is Schuessler Tissue Salts - I believe there are other brands in the UK.
Whilst not a cure for atrophy - most cases will not resolve without local estrogen; it has certainly provided extra relief for me.
Funny, that I stumbled upon it quite by accident!
