HRT and weight
« on: May 30, 2025, 06:59:40 AM »

Hi I am new here and just started HRT, the Dr has given me oestrogel pump and Utrogestan for my hot flushes and I am worried about gaining weight as I have finally just managed to get into the gym again. Any advice please?  :)

:welcomemm:   continue with the gym work as well as swimming if U have access to a pool.

Tell us more about yourself: age, hobbies [we have threads], which symptom U would like to ease first?

Browse round.  Make notes. Do read the threads about bladder issues and vaginal atrophy, 4warned is 4armed.  Ask away!

Which symptom did U want to ease Missy H?  Have U discussed this with your prescribing practitioner?  Did your GP do blood tests for thyroid function and VitD levels? Thyroid being a hormone it can be upset as we go into peri.

I am awaiting results of blood test for thyroid but the weight gain is getting me down as never struggled with my weight and the only thing that has changed is being on HRT.

Hrt doesn't normally cause a weight gain. If it does you can always stop or try a different one. I actually found it easier to lose weight as I felt well again so could be more active.
