Oestrogen implant
« on: May 28, 2025, 02:01:34 PM »

Does anyone know where I can get an oestrogen implant privately? Cheshire, Derbyshire, s Yorkshire, Manchester, lancs area. It seems this is something else in short supply, the nhs aren't taking on any new patients for it 🙄

Is that because women 'make demands' in order to feel better?   >:(

U will probably need to ring round a few Clinics to find out - or ask a Pharmacist about supply issues?

No, it's because of a shortage of implants. The only private one I've found so far in Sheffield isn't taking on new patients for the same reason.

Is there a website for the product to give an idea whether it's a lack of product or whether it's because the NHS won't pay enough for it?

It's lack of product. They come from the US and apparently the manufacturer doesn't think it's profitable and is stopping production. They're trying to find someone on the UK instead. They said they have enough for existing patients for 18 months but aren't taking anyone else on until it's resolved. Why is hrt so difficult?  :(

That's awful!

Is going abroad for it an option since it is only replaced every few months?

You might find that the lower cost of the treatment offsets some of the travel costs.

I had IVF in Cyprus and Spain and found the care there way better than the NHS, particularly Spain.
