I would try a different formulation such as patches or tablets if gel hasn't suited - you really don't know how much if any you have been absorbing.
Also if you don't feel any different on treatment but it isn't actively making you feel worse, it is still worth continuing treatment to avoid the long term health consequences of hypoestrogenism.
I am also clinically estrogen blind, I know from IVF that I cannot tell the difference between being essentially menopausal and having first trimester levels of estrogen, and choose to take hormone therapy predominantly for bone and cardiometabolic health.
