Afternoon all,
Looking for help and reassurance if possible from all you helpful people. 45 years old started hrt mid January this year due yo various issues, dry eye/meibomian gland dysfunction, aching joints especially feet,some hair loss and some disturb  sleep and irritability, still regularperiods although lighter. On 2 pumps oestrogel and 100mg x2 utrogestan 2 weeks of month. Due to uterine artery embolization for fibroid 3 years ago which has successfully shrunk was advise at treatment perimenopause/menopause may start earlier so decided to start on hrt. I stupidly decided to stop hrt cold turkey around 10th April as developed a rash on face and convinced myself was due to hrt..que 5 weeks of feeling horrible with continuous hot flushes..chest neck face back ears boiling hot for long periods of time..unable to tolerate any heat. Visited gp last week and took advice to restart hrt. Started again last Tuesday and did start to see improvements in hot flushes.
Today which is day 15 of my cycle the heat/hotness is back with vengeance...could this be to my own natural estrogen dropping due to ovulation? Due to start my 14 days of utrogestan tonight and praying it helps ..any advice greatly received. Thank you x

Hi you'll need to give the hrt time to work .... it's hard, but you'll need to be patient and just give it a few more weeks. x

I can totally understand how you’re feeling . It takes a while for oestrogen to build up to a level where you are symptom free. It may seem like you are getting worse because the oestrogen hasn’t built up to a sufficient level. The advised time scale is 3 months x

Thanks Dotty..hoping I see improvements before then...plus the hot weather we have had lately hasn't helped x

I think HRT can take a while to set in, as others mentioned. I'm just a month or so in. I do get very hot/a bit sweaty in the night still. At around 4am. But equally could be something to do with the heat. I hope it improves for you in the coming weeks. It all seems to be a bit trial and error sometimes.
