Anyone on 200 Oestrogel and 100 Utrogestan?
« on: April 30, 2025, 08:55:42 PM »

My peri-menopause has been mood related, feeling low/flat, crying for no reason, not feeling excited about things I usually would, brain fog... Luckily no hot flushes or dryness etc...I didn't get on with patches but the 2 pumps of Oestrogel has been amazing 😍. I felt like me again, very quickly. I took 200mg Utrogestan on days 14 to 28 orally. I found it made me so bloated and gassy. It was horrible. After 6 months I switched to using it as a pessary, but that made my digestive system really slow. Not good for me as bowel issues are hereditary in my family, so slowing down my digestion is not an option. I've decided orally is the lesser of both evils, but I only want to take 100 (1 pill instead of 2). I am going to discuss with my Doctor, but was wondering if anyone here is on 200 pumps gel and only 1 pill Utrogestan, due to intolerance? Thanks.

Presume you don't really mean 200 pumps gel?  :). I think it's unlikely you'll find anyone willing to prescribe less than 200mg utro. Some people do use less than the recommended dose but to be safe you need regular scans to make sure the lining isn't building up (cancer risk). When you say as a pessary is that vaginal or rectal? It shouldn't make a difference if it's vaginal but if it does you could consider a different type of progestogen (see treatments from the menu for options).

If you took the progesterone every day you could take 100mg instead of taking double for half the time.

Alternatively there are tons of other options for endometrial protection, you are not stuck with micronised progesterone if it doesn't suit.
