Does anyone find that chlorine irritates their skin or is it ok if one showers well.? Feel I ought to become far more active and there is a lovely  new leisure centre which has opened nearby

At our leisure centre 1 is advised to shower B4 entering the water as well as after ......... I had to take two towels along  . It was the changing rooms that stopped me going  . Enjoy.

I find chlorine has more of an effect on my hair. It always feels really dry if I don't wash thoroughly and conditioner well after swimming.

CLKD - you only need one towel. There's no point drying yourself after a shower when you're just going to jump in a pool full of water.

I started swimming recently and it has really dried my hair and skin. I was getting intense itching afterwards, all over. I now make sure my skin is well moisturised the night before with coconut oil, which, although it gets washed off the next morning, it may help a bit. But the game changer has been applying a body butter and using  hair mask after showering after swimming. I would think any good body moisturiser would have the same effect. You can buy specific products that you apply beforehand but they are very expensive and some of the recommended ones I looked at only contained  things like coconut and olive oil anyway.

The problem with applying products prior to swimming in pools or the sea/lakes, they are getting into the water courses [as are pet flea treatments ] and thinking about it, I don't know where the shower water goes from our pool.  One shouldn't be able to smell chlorine added to public pools . 

There wasn't room for adding moisturisers in the changing rooms  .

I would just shower well afterwards and apply moisturisor everywhere. Have a great time .
