Womb lining 7mm on and Evorel Conti
« on: April 10, 2025, 05:05:18 PM »

Good evening everyone,

I’m currently freaking out and am looking for some support.
For the past few months I’ve been overlapping my Evorel Conti patches ( I  know don’t….). Anyway about 4 weeks ago I had very sore breasts and a brown discharge/ intermittent v. Light blood loss for about 2 weeks and then the breast pain settled too.
I went to the GP and was referred for an ultrasound. Had this on Tuesday and GP has just called. Results came back that everything looked okay apart from womb lining being 7mm. I’ve been told to stop my HRT with immediate effect and I’ve been referred to gynaecology for an urgent appointment. I should hear within 2/3 weeks and results same after.
I know that overlapping my patches was foolish but I’m hoping that someone can offer me some reassurance from their own experience. I’m really hoping that the thickening is just that and nothing too sinister
Thank you x

Just had a text from my GP to say that the referral has been done and that I should hear within 10 days but to let them know if I haven’t heard. 😢

I had bleeding 10mths after starting HRT (gel at the time so can't comment on patches). My GP referred me and I was told same as you, thickened lining that needed biopsy just to make sure nothing sinister. Biopsy was all clear so I was able to restart my HRT again.  The thickened lining was put down to not enough progesterone and I was offered, and accepted, a Mirena coil which was inserted at the time of the biopsy.

When you get your appt don't be alarmed if it has 'cancer' written all over it. My GP warned me that the appt letter would mention cancer pathway and that it would mention Oncology team on it.

I don't know anything about patches but I'm sure you've probably had more oestrogen than your progesterone prescription can cope with which has led to the thickening.

Hope you don't have to wait too long xx

Thank you so much for your response! I’m hoping that the very tender breasts are an indicator of this being the case. Fingers crossed! I wonder what the treatment might be for this or does your womb gradually absorb and breakdown the hyperplasia?

Hi what do you mean by “overlapping” the patches? x

And were you post menopausal before starting the patches ?

I was keeping the previous patch on for a while to give my new patch a chance to absorb. This was advice I’d read on an Instagram forum x

Hi overlapping patches shouldn’t really affect anything as the patches are designed to last for a certain amount of days. They don’t carry on giving out oestrogen.

How long have you been on the patches ? And were you post menopausal before starting them? ( 12 months without a period).

I overlap mine all the time, it shouldn't be a problem as you're still getting the progesterone as well as oestrogen. The sore breasts makes me think your own hormones might be at play here. If you're peri not meno that would explain both the sore breasts and the thickened lining. If this is the case sequi might
be a better option than conti.

I’ve been on them for 2 years but i definitely feel it’s something hormonal although my breast soreness hasn’t really been seen as the issue just the womb thickening x

I think I was just lost when I started the patches but since being on them I’ve occasionally felt as if my breasts were ever so slightly sore but this passed quickly. It’s only recently that I’ve had this issue. Fingers crossed my lining isn’t too problematic and I can restart HRT soon x

The BMS guidance on post menopausal bleeding advises that there is no need to stop taking hrt whilst waiting for tests.

The BMS guidance on post menopausal bleeding advises that there is no need to stop taking hrt whilst waiting for tests.
My GP asked me to stop until I’ve been seen by the hospital.
I don’t think my breast discomfort has been factored in and I was referred because of bleeding when it was only a slight brown loss when I wiped myself.
I’m trying to think sensibly and not let my imagination run away with me.

Thank you for replies it means a lot x

Hi Oliviasmum
Try not worry.  I’ve been where you are 5 times and every time I’ve been ok.

The guidance is to change the type of hrt or adjust the progesterone if all tests are negative. X
