Oestradiol levels?
« on: April 10, 2025, 08:15:07 AM »

Hi does anyone know if my Oestradiol result of 170 pmol/l is  normal? I’ve been on HRT (evorel conte) since Feb 23 and more recently Vagifem since the start of this March (although Oestradiol measured before start of Vagifem).

TBH I am getting so fed up with constant episodes of spotting I’m considering stopping all HRT and if the Oestradiol isn’t very high it’s not helping much anyway. Getting pelvic pain and spotting every couple of weeks and the GP isn’t helping. Gynaecologist didn’t give any answers either after clear Hysteroscopy (thank God) just said to go back to GP if bleeding continues which it has. Fed up of feeling worried that they’ve missed something or that something else is going on so considering stopping HRT to see if it helps.

That sounds like a good reading if you are on HRT. Mine was 198, I guess it goes on whether your symptoms are being relieved or not but I know for bone protection etc it should be around 200 pmol/l

The late Professor Studd considered 300pmol/L to be the minimum threshold for bone protection.

Even the NHS cite 250pmol/L for this on their literature.

It is up to you whether you feel your treatment is meeting your individual therapeutic goals but I wouldn't write off hormone therapy if you have only ever tried a 50mcg combined patch and not achieved a very good level.

There are tons of different options and it might be worth seeing a menopause specialist if bog standard one size fits all NHS care hasn't resulted in the outcomes you'd hoped for.
