Natural Remedies
« on: April 05, 2025, 09:58:51 AM »

Hi all, I am 2 years into peri with obvious symptoms (anxiety & insomnia) only having arisen in the last 6 months. I'll be honest, the last 6 months have probably been the worst in my life.

I have tried several antidepressants +plus HRT. I started on 25 patches, moved onto 3 x 0.5mg of gel & am now on 3 sprays of lenzetto a day.  Patches did nothing, gel got rid of my hot flushes but it's only since starting lenzetto 2 weeks ago that my sleep has started to improve. I'm still suffering with anxiety, especially in the mornings. Can anyone recommend a herbal supplement that may help to steady my anxiety whilst the HRT takes full effect? I asked GP for advice but they couldn't/wouldn't help.
Thanks

In answer to your question, nope.  Menopause is natural.  Symptoms can be debilitating.  Which symptom would you like to ease first?  HRT isn't a cure in some cases but it may help various feelings and reaction.

It's known that anxiety levels may rise - cortisol, the waking hormone, was the worst for me.  My GP gave me betablocks which I took in the evening to ease the early morning surges.

A few anti-depressants may ease anxiety.  Has your GP not suggested a dedicated anti-anxiety medication?

Magnesium Glycinate is good for anxiety as well as improving sleep. I couldn’t recommend this enough. I get the one from Bulk Powders website and take one on a morning and one before bed. Also magnesium butter rubbed into legs and feet before bed helps x

For restless legs: I found that several small bananas each day cured the sensations.  Although aware of them pulling in the day the problems begin at night so when necessary I swallow 2 Nurfon.

My brain has been going through what I have tried, many years ago I did use Bachs Rescue Rememdy mouth spray, two squirts and didn't think if it would work/not.  Always B4 going to an Event that I was looking 4wards to.

Lavender is supposedly good to aid sleep but I find it too strong  ::). I do use it as drawer liners so our clothing has a faint whiff of the flowers.

Can't help with remedies but I had anxiety and insomnia too, it's awful. It tokk 3 months to go completely, not much improvement in the first month then very up and down. Hang on in there, if it's controlling your other symptoms there a good chance the anxiety will go too.

Hi, I was really suffering with anxiety, awful feelings of doom morning and random times too, just came in waves. I’ve started taking Kalms Day (herbal valerian root) they have been brilliant for me. Don’t make you groggy but definitely have greatly reduced anxiety. Also magnesium glycinate is great at bedtime. Hope these may help, both safe to take with any meds when I checked with GP although I’m not  on HRT I have high blood pressure (controlled) so always check x
