Hi,
I posted on here about how my palpitations have really ramped up. They became daily, both flutters and fast beating. I've had an ecg and due a 24 hour one.
I haven't had a period for 4 and a half months until 3 days ago. I've barely had any since I came on!
I used to know they were hormonal when I had regular periods but have struggled with them mentally while they have been happening more.
I was so worried they were for a reason other then hormones but this does seem strange that they've almost gone now I have a period.
Any advice please?

Estrogen plays a part in regulating our body and fluctuations will cause all sorts of changes. Palpatations is one of them.
They are harmless and hopefully after your 24 hour ecg you will get reassurance of this. A period means you've previously ovulated and had a new surge of Estrogen so your hormones are regulating again. Try not to worry about the palpitations they are part of menopause and anxiety makes them worse.

Hello Mummytron

Daily palpitations were one of my symptoms back in the day. Although they had a big effect on my daily life I never worried about my heart and never had any investigations. I also experienced very strong  night time beats which strangely I quite liked but I know that some ladies on the forum found those especially worrying.

All this occurred when I was post meno and I haven't had any episodes for a long time now.

I assume that palpitations are just another meno symptom that resolves over time.

I hope you find lasting relief soon and I wish you well.

K.

I have had them a few times during post menopause but they were caused from anxiety and recently lasted a couple of months. They were the ectopic beats though not racing heartbeats and ecg was normal.  Caffeine and alcohol are also triggers so not always hormonal but just as worrying.

Palpitations can sometimes be triggered by fluctuating as well as low hormones.

Your heart may have be more irritable when the estrogen was falling than now it has bottomed out with your period.

You don't just have to put up with any of this though, we have had the tools to get rid of both periods and perimenopausal symptoms for decades so don't be afraid of seeking treatment.

Had a few today after about 3 days break. Why can't I accept them for what they are? Health anxiety just says I'm about to have a heart attack 🙄

24 hour ecg came back showing ectopic bears and nothing to worry about. Typically only had a few while I was wearing it but today I've had a few big ones. My echocardiagram in 2021 showed mild regurgitation which is common apparently.

That's very reassuring, so now just forget about them and get on with your life. Once I realised mine were harmless and stopped worrying they stopped, although my recent ones were anxiety driven. Just accept it's hormonal and your body is adjusting to the changes and they will eventually settle or you will get used to them.
A podcast I listened to by a cardiologist about ectopic beats likened them to a car, the heart is the engine and the ectopic beats were just the lights flickering doing no harm to the engine. When the hormones stop fluctuating the lights will stop flickering.

Yes it is reassuring, so why do I keep worrying 😟
So frustrated with myself.
Thank you for your kind message, I'll get there...
