Hysterectomy done! 🙏
« on: March 18, 2025, 09:24:30 AM »

Despite still in the first week of recovery, I’m happy to say I finally had a Hysterectomy last Tuesday!

I’d been on the waiting list due to multiple large fibroids, the bladder frequency and constipation was seriously disrupting my day to day life… so my GP chased up the hospital (private but in the NHS)… and I got a cancellation!

I was in hospital for 2 nights, and it’s been a challenging first week coping with pain, posture and fatigue, but wow, the moment I woke up that awful heavy, throbbing uterus was gone! 🙏

The gynaecologist deemed I would be ok with the Vaginally Assisted Laparoscopic Hysterectomy… and all going to plan, although she did say it was a ‘bun fight’ getting the bulky, enlarged fibroids uterus out… but it’s GONE!

Happy to chat through my experience… and if you are suffering from the same awful daily symptoms, don’t hesitate to seek treatment… Women do not have to live like that anymore!
🙏

Great news. Best thing I ever did was having a hysterectomy. Please take your recovery slowly as you only get one chance to heal xx

Yes, perfect time of year to sit outside and recover ☀️ … as they said to me at the hospital’you get one chance at a good recovery’… so I’m going to do just that! 🙏

Thanks for your long term insight… it’s appreciated!  I intend to follow all the advice and make this a ‘good recovery’ 🙏

I know it’s only early days but I can definitely ‘feel’ the lightness in my tummy… pain of healing of course, but wow I wasn’t expecting this lightness! 😮

I found after removal of appendix that I was OK for 8 days then suddenly it all took over and I slept. Long.  By then I was at home.  Same in Hospital,, first on the list at 9.00a.m, didn't wake until 4.00 then asked for tea and toast  ::)

That’s interesting CLKD, the fatigue has bed overwhelming, so good to know I’m not alone!

I keep thinking ‘I’ve not done anything, how can I be sooo tired 😴’’… but it’s all healing… thank you for your kind words 🙏

When I woke up from the surgery in the 1990s I could feel the anaesthetic leaving my body ........

Sleep heals ;-)

You’re so right!

Also when I woke up, despite the tummy ache and painkillers, I felt immediately that it was all GONE!

I actually have an emptiness in my tummy I’ve not felt since I was a kid… ever since my periods started I’ve suffered with severe period pain and later, multiple fibroids… it’s a fantastic feeling, being free of it all 🙏

Hi

I have the same symptoms - off to see my consultant this week, also had MRI scan that showed possible degeneration or suspicious change which has freaked me a little although the consultant said the wording on my report is very common and not to worry.  Any advice welcome, I am moving towards having the op having been offered it 3 years ago and said id wait for menapause.  I think though that my HRT is keeping them in situ.  My dread is that it could not be done laparostically  (is thats a word ) xx
