Periods have returned...
«

After a bit of advice. Last period was in 2019. Nightsweats were horrific and was put on patches. Was allergic (skin peeling, red sore) so was taken off them.
Been on Utrogestsan 100mg and 2 pumps oestrogen daily.
After about 6 months I developed spotting. Was sent for pelvic ultrasound and everything was nothing abnormal found.
I'm now having full 5 day periods every 14 days.
Should this be happening

It is not typical but that doesn't mean it is pathological, and the fact that it is occurring in a cyclical pattern is less worrying than if it were completely irregular. However it does need to be investigated given the length of time you have been bleed free.
Resumption of some ovarian activity is also more likely in those experiencing premature or chemotherapy induced menopause - do either of these apply to you?

Well I would not panic, but I would make a routine appointment with your GP.
This is almost always benign but does just need to be checked out.
You should not be asked to stop your HRT pending investigation.

Hi that was one of the issues I was a bit worried about, still musing as to whether to try HRT. I’m on the mini pill, used to have regular spotting each month but nothing at all now for years. Makes it tricky to know which stage of menopause I’m in but advised to stay on it. Does the gel make you have periods again as it is thickening the womb lining?

Hi Ruthiebell if you are post menopause then the gel shouldn’t make you have periods again. You take progesterone alongside the oestrogen which stops the womb lining thickening.

Hi Bwadebrownowl…. It’s advisable to see a doctor to check the cause of bleeding as you haven’t bled for so long.
