Evorel conti patches only have 50mcg of estradiol in them so unless you're a fruit fly this is unlikely to be "too much".
The progestin in the combined patches, norethisterone, is known to not be very kind re mood.
Unfortunately some women find micronised progesterone difficult to tolerate too, but the vaginal route is definitely worth a try as it doesn't get converted into psychoactive metabolites as it does when taken orally.
First off how much estrogen are you on? Make sure you are on the lowest safe dose of progesterone to cover that.
For example if you are on a 50mcg patch, you would take 100mg progesterone every night.
If vaginal micronised progesterone is also not tolerated there are other oral progestins or the mirena IUS.
Anecdotally having testosterone replacement also makes it easier to tolerate the progestogen in some cases as it supports mood and positive neurotransmitters like dopamine.
Also don't forget tibolone as an option, this can be a great solution for those who can't tolerate standard progestogens.
I would try to see a menopause specialist if I were you - I hate that I'm saying this but sometimes self funding and appointment is the best way to access the care you need in an acceptable time frame when your GP practice is out of their depth.
