On Evorel Conti - symptoms reappearing
« on: March 02, 2025, 12:59:57 PM »

Hi
Last June I was put onto Evorel Conti patches at the age of 48. Things were going really well with my symptoms nearly all but gone. At Christmas things started to happen again, flushes, anxiety increased, lack of concentration/forgetting things, tiredness. Also started to show signs of post menopause bleeding which has only happened once in January. Saw my GP who thinks it's a "hormonal blip" but has referred to gynae for check up. Had bloods checked and all ok.

I'm going back to gp in a couple of weeks as my symptoms haven't improved any. Not sure if it's a case of increasing patch dosage or change of hrt  :-\

I've been seeing online adverts for Magnesium but I'm unsure if it really works, anyone tried this?.

Looking for advice/suggestions from anyone who has had similar?

Thanks

An evorel conti patch only contains 50mcg of estradiol and you are young.

Your own hormones are probably still declining in the background and whilst this may have initially relieved symptoms it is common to need more as your own body produces less.

Also what about testosterone? This can be helpful for some of the cognitive symptoms such as memory and concentration (although you would have to say it's for libido on the NHS).

Hi Saz,

Is it the Evorel Sequi patches that you are on the combined ones? I take those and it’s Evorel 50 half the month and Evorel conti for the other half. It does sound like you need to up your dose if symptoms are creeping back.

I am 10 years younger than you and started my patches in December which initially relieved almost 100% symptoms and felt great for a while but I’ve noticed the past few weeks I’ve got joint pains, itchy skin, anxiety and flushing in cheeks coming back so I am going to ask for an increase when I have my review soon. As bombshell said, it’s normal to assume that as our own hormones fluctuate and decrease, we are going to need a higher amount to feel comfortable again.

Also, magnesium helps me massively I take biglycinate supplements twice a day and it does reduce anxiety and help with sleep.

Good luck x

It's the Evorel Conti I'm on continuously. I'm still on Cerazette too. I do think I need something stronger, I don't know if these particular patches have higher strengths 🤷 I try not to look online too much as I get confused over all the options lol

I'm interested in the magnesium side of things so thank you for letting me know about your experience with it. I can be quite sceptical when I see adverts so it's always good to hear from others about it. I've been plagued with anxiety since my teens but since having my family I seem to have become intolerant to the medication I used to get so now don't take anything other than herbal remedies and try to use apps for calming myself which aren't always successful.

Sorry to hear you’ve been feeling that way, and for a long time too. It might be best speaking with your GP about getting your patches increased, I’m not sure if the conti alone have a higher dose but you may be able to take it in another form ie pill which you can increase on.

I have taken magnesium for many years as I used to get anxiety through my job and it helped me a great deal then, so hearing that it’s also helpful during perimenopause I didn’t hesitate to carry it on and it’s great. I have also ordered some magnesium body butter just today so will give that a try tomorrow too as I’ve heard good things with sleep etc.

I agree you need a higher dose. It's not unusual to need more as your own production declines, I've had to increase twice and need to again. Evorel conti only comes in one strength but you can use an evorel 75 patch alongside a separate progestogen, usually utrogeston.
