Is This Histamine or Hot Flushes?
« on: February 28, 2025, 03:38:43 PM »

Hi, I have had an increase in issues with histamine since being perimenopausal.  I've found a low histamine diet and taking cetrizine (antihistamine) daily keeps it in check.  However I seem to have come up in a strong flare and wondering why the low histamine diet and cetrizine aren't having the effect they were?  I'm wondering if it's hot flushes?  As it's my understanding they have similar symptoms.

I've feel hot, got prickly skin like pins and needles and burning, fatigue, feel nauseous, headache, episodes of anxiety and thumping heart.  I've had this before at this level and my GP trialed me on a higher dose Oestrogel but I just felt over medicated so went back down in dose.  Over time with my low histamine approach it helped but not got rid of it completely.

Anyone else get this?  Do you know if it's histamine or just hormone fluctuations giving hot flush type symptoms?

Hi,

I can’t diagnose but my random urticaria and swelling during Peri/menopause morphed into daily hives despite antihistamines.  I developed tachycardia 5 years ago out of the blue.
My dermatologist mentioned MCAS at my last visit, the symptoms are very similar to Peri/Menopause.
