Vagifem
« on: February 26, 2025, 06:05:27 PM »

I have been on vagifem 2x weekly for 18 months ISH. I did have issues with staining but these were all investigated and no issues found and I have had no problems since July 24. Yesterday and today I have pink staining not every time I wipe after being to the bathroom which is more noticeable if I have had to strain at all. There was a little resistance the last time I used the vagifem is this maybe the cause? Should I avoid any more until this settles. Sorry just feel a bit silly

It may be that you require a reload = every night for 2-3 weeks.  As our hormones rise and fall the body may become drier which will impact on the vagina/anus.  Up the application, don't stop.

No need to feel silly at all!  Occasionally I need to add more estriol, I manage every 3/4 and 6th night, sometimes symptoms niggle so I put extra in during the afternoon then start 3-5 nights straight off.  It's trial and error to find what suits our vagina/vulva.

When I get the nip as the urine flow shuts off I swallow 2 Nurofen which helps.  Let us know how you get on.

If you are not using enough of it, it won't be able to lubricate or help your vagina. Sometimes if women are really dry up there, the tablet can't dissolve properly and so isn't effective... The resistance is probably that you are very dry up there.

I'd agree you should try increasing your dose to every night and adding in estriol cream as well, and also vaginal moisturiser like YES...

You might also want to consider systemic HRT (or an increase of it, if you are on it) which will help. The vagina is the canary in the coal mine. If it's this dry, think what's happening elsewhere in your body...

Not pathetic at all!  Our pets can be worrying at times.  As well as expensive!

As oestrogen levels drop off the body may become dry: inside and out ....... scalp, deep in the ears, eyes, skin; vagina, anus .... and muscles may become lax = aches and pains.
