Bleed or not?
« on: February 17, 2025, 08:26:52 AM »

Last month after 8m bleed free on 4 pumps estrogel and 200mg utro continuously (age 53) I had a very heavy painful bleed, my dr has referred me for an ultrasound as suspects fibroids.
My question is this month (29 days later) I've no bleed but painful cramps in my pelvis, would it be wise to stop my utro for a few days to induce a bleed or just carry on? I'm taking painkillers for the cramps and they're manageable just annoying

Sorry can't help as I don't use HRT.  Is there any info in the leaflet in the packet? Or U could put the product names into the search box to read other threads.

Since your doctor suspects fibroids and has referred you for an ultrasound, it’s best to continue taking your Utrogestan (progesterone) as prescribed until you have more clarity on what’s going on. Stopping it to induce a bleed might not be the best approach, as it could lead to unpredictable bleeding or worsen symptoms, especially if fibroids are involved.

The cramps could be due to hormonal fluctuations, uterine lining changes, or fibroids themselves, and stopping progesterone might not necessarily help. Since you’re managing the cramps with painkillers, it might be best to stay on your current regimen until you have your ultrasound results and can discuss next steps with your doctor.

However, if the cramps become unmanageable or you feel strongly about trying a short break from Utrogestan, it would be wise to check in with your doctor first.
