Testogel and hair loss
« on: February 08, 2025, 08:33:00 PM »

Dear ladies,

I started on testogel about 3 weeks ago (an eighth of a sachet per day) and in the past week or so I seem to be losing more hair than usual and was wondering if anyone else has had this issue? My hair feels a bit thinner too. I’ve read online that this can happen and that it may not be reversible due to damage to hair follicles. I haven’t done a lot of research though. I would be interested to know if anyone has experienced this as I’m getting a bit worried.

I think it would be unusual for true androgenic alopecia to present after just 3 weeks on a physiological dose of testosterone.

It is more likely to be worry causing this if anything.

You would have had a similar level of testosterone if not higher during your 20's and weren't losing hair then.

I would rule out other issues iron thyroid etc. and also make sure estrogen levels are healthy but wouldn't give up on testosterone this soon.

Do you have a follow up blood test with your prescriber? You may feel reassured by confirming that your testosterone levels are in range.

Thanks for replyingbombsh3ll. I did get my levels tested prior to starting and they are low. I hadn’t thought of iron. I do have heavy periods with lots of large clots but take iron tablets.
