New itching
« on: January 30, 2025, 01:40:09 PM »

I have been on imvexxy 2 x a week (at 11 weeks now) and estragyn cream 2 x a week.

The burning still exists, especially after i pee. The burning is in internal, i feel like it is on the right side due to some cuts, tears, not sure. And discomfort when i sit (driving). And the pee urgency, only in the am for some reason where odten i feel when i wont make the toilet. I do drink alot of water overall so it could be that.

I understand that it could take awhile for the skin barrier to heal. And i started to use yes ob.

In the last week or so, i have noticed redness on the inner labia on the left side. And it is itchy not all the time but i am hyper aware. I am not sure if i am reacting to something or is this itching from the area healing? I had watched a video of the various stages of healing with using vaginal estrogen burning, than itching. And why only on that side. ?

I use coconut oil for the external but lately it has been stinging, i guess some oil but seep to that left side?

I had to beg to see my gyneo again and that is not until feb 11.

The outside is not itchy, maybe an occasional itch. So not only do i have burning but now an itch both are internal, i never had itching before.

Do read the VA treads where you will see that twice a week is NOT enough regardless of what we are being told.

I am sure that if U change from imvexxy to Vagifem internally with ovestin/estriol externally that symptoms will improve.  Every night for at least 3-4 weeks.

Right now I can’t do anything until I see the Gyneo. I started originally on vagifem and that is how all this burning started to begin with. Gp honestly doesn’t know much or how to help.

I use Imvexxy 2 a week plus the cream 2 times a week. On alternative days.

My Gyneo only wanted me to use Imvexxy once a week and cream once a week. She only prescribed 4mg and maybe I need the 10mg.

Estragyn is an estrogen cream in Canada. With only one estrogen in for people like me with sensitivities.

I am not sure what caused the new redness and itchy? Or if I am reacting to something?

How much knowledge does the Gynae have about menopause and particularly, vaginal atrophy?  Sorry, forgot that you are in the great wilds of Canada, how's the weather  ;D. I always imagine it as deep, deep snow  ::)

Once a week might as well be never at all  :-\.  I may have mentioned Jane Lewis' book Me and My Menopausal Vagina, worth a read ........ women shouldn't have to fight for treatment  :(

It may have been the fillers or packaging rather than the active ingredient in the vagifem.   Explain that every night is absolutely OK to get symptoms under control, refer him/her here if there is resistance ;-)

Depends on where you live in Canada. Some areas don’t see snow at all while others get loads. Further north will get more snow, I live in a big city.

I tried to get a second opinion and that Gyneo#2 did not want to even look at me. Stating there is a code among drs and referred me back to the original Gyneo #1. When I asked gyneo #2 about starting estrogen she said because I don’t have hot flashes and night sweats I don’t need it.

And even living in a big city the lack of available doctors in this field is mind blowing.

I did read the book.

I would not be so bummed out all the time if I had a proper dr with a knowledge and actually gave a sh$t. Instead I have a Gyneo who won’t see me and a gp who doesn’t know anything. And. NP who probably knows more than those two combined.

And all I am doing is guessing at this point. 10 min dr visits is not healthcare.

That's awful.  I feel your frustration from here!  It is NOT good enough.

R U able to buy VA treatment over the internet so that U can do your own Trial?  Do read about lichen sclerosis - which can affect that area.  If U put it into the search box threads should pop up.

I was told by gp she felt I had Lichen, due to the right side. I went on Clob for 3 weeks before I got to see the Gyneo.

However, when I went to the Gyneo said I did not have Lichen but some sort of undiagnosed vaginitis. And went on an antibiotics for that. Than started vaginal estrogen.

Yes I could try an online way of ordering meds. Via a paid tele health option.

This the left side now which only popped up recently. So I wonder if it is a reaction to Imvexxy, coconut oil or Estragyn cream?

I wonder if it is Estragyn cuz I do spread it around down there with my finger. I was told to only use it on the wound area but when you are down there it’s hard to just leave it on one side.

I also lean on my left side a lot and sleep mostly in the left with a pillow between knees?

I had watched a dr video explaining the various stages of healing while using estrogen burning than it can get itchy.

So I don’t know which it is allergic reaction to something, the area healing? Or something else?

It’s not horribly itchy I tried a different toilet paper today and only dab

There is this video that I had found on another forum. She explains quite simply that when applying anything like a sunburn it’s going to sting or burn. Than asks you to ask is this an infection or is it my body reacting to some ingredient in the estrogen.

Further she says that like a sunburn when it heals it can get itchy.

when the skin is thin applying anything may well sting.  Which is why babies have specific creams to ease i.e. nappy rash.

Yeah she explained that in another video that menopausal women skins like babies are very thin.

I get it now. I just thought the skin would be a little tougher at the 11 week mark you know.

The worst is the sitting and post pee burn. That stings badly and I really had hoped estrogen would help resolve that

The oestrogen should resolve symptoms if used every night ..........

So I avoided coconut oil and used cereve (for babies) moisturizer instead for the external bits. I didn’t experience the stinging like I had with coconut oil.

Quite interesting as I wonder if the internal irritation was from that. It does not generally itch unless I touch it which I did today after applying yes ob and Estragyn. But last night it was itchy cuz I applied coconut oil to the outside which I am sure get in there somehow.

We will see if the irritation goes away or it’s the skin healing. And got annoyed by the coconut oil.
