GP treated thrush and i stopped vagirux at the same time. and have used dermote for a few weeks.  All clear now and I have used estridol 1mg cream inside and outside for 7 days. yikes !! its burning me /sore inside . this cant be normal ??

Why has the doctor stopped Vagirux? You can start using again now your thrush treatment has ended and do a reload. I use oral fluconazole tablets when i have thrush so i can carry on with the Vagifem daily.  You only needed to stop vagirux if you are using thrush pessaries internally and then only for a couple of days.  When you stop treatment atrophy will come back. You need to start Vagirux again ASAP.

It will probably burn for a while until your skin isn't sore anymore from the thrush and now the returned atrophy. The only way to stop this is to replace the lost estrogen. It won't improve until you replace this and the sooner you start the better. Have you got a soothing moisturiser you can also use.
Use the vagirux everyday until you feel comfortable again and also use the estriol cream externally, it will probably take a few weeks to get back to normal but you should see an improvement in a week or so. If you are sore outside carry on with the Dermovate but use at a different time to the estriol.
If you ever have thrush again use the oral tabltes so you don't have to stop the atrophy treatment.

Firstly I would be very careful about long term genital use of dermovate. This is a potent steroid and can itself induce atrophy of skin generally. There are certain indications when it is used on the vulva but it is a bit concerning that you have used it for "thrush" for several weeks, on an already atrophic vulva.

Yes moisturiser contains "Linum Usitatissimum (Flax) Extract*, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder (Aloe Vera)*, Cyamopsis Tetragonolobus (Guar Gum)*, Ceratonia Siliqua (Locust Bean Gum)*, Sodium Chloride, Xanthan Gum, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid, Phenoxyethanol".

None of these are secreted by the human ovary.

I would restart the pessaries and use daily if you are able to insert them. If you previously used estriol cream with no issues, it would be reasonable to continue this, however if you have no prior use of this it may be that you are sensitive to one of the ingredients, and in your current delicate state it is not possible to determine if it would have burned anyway.

Also is there a reason you are using topical estrogen only? The bloodstream is nature's preferred way of delivering hormones to the genital tract and whilst topical estrogens have a role in pharmacological treatment, it can be difficult to achieve and maintain optimal results with the doses typically used, and is also problematic when there is a competing local skin condition affecting the vulva/vagina.

Given the length of time this has been going on and lack of relief it would be worth having a review with your GP or nurse.

The worst thing you did was to stop the oestrogen treatment, it made things all the more complicated for you but what you need now is patience to give the treatment time to work, don't rush things see how it goes. Dierdre's advice is spot on and I can't add any more to that but I will say again, don't rush to seeing a GP where they will probably complicate matters for you. Obviously if things are not improving then seek further help from your surgery but what you need now is time.
BTW, Yes moisturiser is perfectly fine to use, mainly plant based and meant only as a lubricant but it helps in relieving the soreness.

Just in case you can't use YES (it burns me) coconut oil works really well for me as both a moisturiser and lubricant. It's the only thing that I find doesn't burn when my bits are swollen and red like a baboons bum (sorry!!)

I've been prescibed Dermovate for years with no side effects at all. It's a life
saver when I have a flare up and my skin is so raw and splits, it makes it tolerable applying estrogen cream which burns when my labia is so sore and burning anyway.  Twice a day for no longer than 4 weeks is the recommended safe dosage from my vulva specialist.

I think YES WB is probably the only moisturiser I can tolerate as they don't contain glycerin, very expensive though.
Hope you get some improvement soon.

U can of course use 'estriol' internally ........ if the vagirux pessary burns then switch to 'estriol' which can be inserted gently on the end of a finger as far in as is comfy.

How have U been this week?

Yes and Sylk moisturisers are very popular here, they are plant based. Its all trial and error until you eventually find the one that suits.
