utrogestan side effects
« on: January 26, 2025, 06:37:47 PM »

I tried Utrogestan tablets 200mg and Oestrogen patches because I had break through bleeding on Evorel Conti, but even though I took the tablets at night I felt so doped up the day after, after 3 days I gave up. Does anyone know if using them vaginally would have the same effect? My gp wasn’t keen on this, it seems here in the UK it’s not licensed to be used that way.

Many women on here take Utro vaginally. I did for a few years, as it knocked me out orally. It didn't affect me in that way but was too irritating to my bladder to continue with it at a sufficient dose.

It's definitely worth trying vaginally if the patches weren't controlling bleeding. It will be the same dose as oral.

Thank you both for your replies, it’s just so difficult to know what’s best and in the meantime deal with side effects 🙈 but I guess trial and error are the only way.

It is really. At least taking it vaginally is something you can just try yourself. Progesterone intolerance is quite common. There are lseveral  other options if that doesn't work out and you will find lots of advice on support on here, as I have. It sounds like your GP is not very experienced with menopause matters, as many sadly aren't.
