Everol conti and bleeding
« on: January 20, 2025, 06:06:20 PM »

Hi All,
I started on Everol Conti at the end of August - I’m 59 and not had a period for 5 years. Despite not having taken HRT before, I still had a few troublesome symptoms and after a discussion with GP I decided to give it a go. All was well until mid November when I had slight spotting. I didn’t worry as I’d been advised this was normal. However this became more regular and heavier and I have now had two flooding type episodes and spotting or a period type flow pretty much every day since Christmas. I’ve been referred for a scan and possible hysteroscopy. The GP feels it’s hormone related but wants to double check. Other than the bleeding, that’s beginning to really get me down, the HRT has been fab. I’m sleeping better, symptoms gone and all well.
I guess what I’m asking is, is there  anyone out there for whom the bleeding did actually settle after 6 months - it seems to be getting worse for me and not better and I’m heading towards 5 months in. I am worried about there being a more sinister cause also as the amount of blood has been quite alarming at times.
Thank you -any reassurance or advice would be appreciated  :)I have felt like ripping the patch off a few times  :o

Morning Alioop
This is exactly what happened to me.  You should be able to find my posts on here regarding it but basically the GP changed me over to Evorel 75 and Utrogestan 100 which stopped the bleeding within 3 days.

Hi there I’ve been on evorel conte for two years in February. Last Nov I had brown spotting - gp put me on 2ww and had ultrasound and Hysteroscopy with biopsy - all negative thank God. However, I had spotting again over New Year and it’s started again today. I think it’s hormone related because I’ve had weird period-ish pains and at New Year even sore boobs! One thing I would say, and I hope I’m not scaring you, is make sure you take pain killers if you do need a Hysteroscopy or ask for pain relief - I have a fairly high pain threshold and it was horrible. I would do it again if necessary, though as it is the gold standard for checking post menopausal bleeding x All the best!

Thanks both and your replies are much appreciated. I will look for the posts Pauline, and will definitely take pain relief - thanks Ellie 😊I realised after I posted that I’d spelt evorel incorrectly too. It’s so hard not to worry as all this blood just doesn’t seem normal. I’m a teacher and so work has become stressful as I’m now worried about the unpredictability of the bleeding. The irony being though that if it wasn’t for the bleeding I’d be so pleased with the effect they’ve had on the way I feel.

I am beginning to lose faith that things will settle on the conti patches and so as long as they find nothing untoward, which I’m trying not to think about, I will ask to try something different.
xx

Morning lovely ladies of menopausematters, thought I’d update.
So, the bleeding worsened and I ended up paying to see a consultant privately who did a scan and biopsy there and then (was uncomfortable but bearable) The results have just come through that the bleeding is due to HRT and seemingly nothing more ominous.
I have spoken to the GP this morning who has suggested changing from the conti patch to an oestrogen only patch and taking the progesterone orally, in an effort to stop this almost continual spotting/bleeding/flooding routine.
Other than the bleeding, I feel really well on the conti regime.
I’m just wondering whether a switch to an oral progesterone does generally work regards stopping the bleeding. The GP seems optimistic! 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Pauline, just wondering whether your bleeding issue settled permanently after you switched?

 Thanks Pauline. That sounds optimistic!
:) Really glad it settled for you and so fingers crossed there’s a chance it will for me too. I’m picking up the prescription later. Thanks for the update 😊😊
