I've had the following response from Sandoz. This doesn't fill me with joy.....
Dear Seasidegirl
I refer to your recent correspondence in which you requested information regarding Estradot 75mcg in reference to the below question:
Are you able to provide an update on the availability of Estradot 75 patches to the NHS
In response to your request In response to your request:
Firstly, we are sorry for the difficulties you are experiencing in obtaining this medicine and recognise the distress the shortages of HRT medicines can have for patients. For background, we are finding the demand for HRT products has grown significantly due to greater awareness of menopause. Therefore, we are currently facing a supply challenge as we respond to the significant growth in the demand for Estradot in the face of a global manufacturing constraint, which is impacting many HRT medicines. We are already exploring options within the business to increase manufacturing capacity. We are also in ongoing dialogue with the Department of Health and Social Care and industry trade bodies on potential solutions to address the growing demand for these important medicines.
In the case of Estradot, it is produced through a third-party partner and due to capacity constraints at their manufacturing site we will have limited global supply which will impact our ability to meet UK demand.
As a company we are investing to increase future capacity of Estradot by building more manufacturing capability in our plant in Germany. Until these production lines become operational, which will be in 2026, we will continue to have limited supply of Estradot.
However, for the time-being we cannot guarantee any dates for the supply of Estradot transdermal patches. Any supply to the UK market in 2025 may also be limited and inconsistent.
We hope this information is helpful.
Yours sincerely,
Medical Information, UK
