Finding lost relatives
« on: January 12, 2025, 04:48:04 PM »

Criky in the days of internet and GOOGLE I would have thought it easier to trace people  ::).  I found some photos of relatives from Canada taken at my parents' house in 1974.  [long story short]

So I decided to search my maternal Father and Mother .......... can get so far then Ancestry websites want paying B4 I can progress.  Somewhere in the filing cabinet I am certain that Mum wrote down a lot of her history .......... it will mean that I have to turn out drawers  :-\

Does any1 have interest in their relatives ?

I have a couple of relatives I lost touch with, last heard of in Oz, that I wouldn't mind being in touch with however I doubt we have much in common and the chances of meeting up would be slim. As for the other relatives, if they moved to Timbuktu that would be nice  ;D
Apart from that I do know a bit about family history, back to great grandparents but that's all I need. I've no interest in knowing if I'm related to royalty or a renowned criminal  ;)

I've found a few on line but the date of birth for my Aunt is actually Mum's  ::) .  Then I was asked to pay for more info..

I have a very convoluted family tree and think anyone who wants to research their family history should be prepared to uncover things that can be distressing.

I discovered something about my near family that really knocked me for six and took a long time to come to terms with.

It's definitely worth paying for the information if you're serious about finding out about family history.
