ESTRIOL 0.001% APPLICATOR HELP
« on: January 10, 2025, 08:49:31 PM »

Would someone please advise before I go mad! :-\
The Gynest applicator is driving me crazy. >:(

Firstly I don't know if I am filling the applicator fully. When you squeeze the tube you get a narrow tube of cream which fills the length but not the diameter of the very wide barrel.

Secondly after I have applied the really messy applicator I can never get it fully cleaned as bits of cream get stuck in barrel of the applicator.

Ovestin applicator is do much better. The Gynest applicator is far too big and messy to fill and wash.

It has got so frustrating I am seriously considering not using it at all...not a good idea.  :'(

I have posted something similar before but sadly didn't get any answers.

If you use Gynest please offer done advice. I would really appreciate it.  :)

Get some small baby bottle brushes from Amazon, about £6 for a dozen.  I use 'estriol' and the product doesn't fill the barrel, it doesn't really matter if used regularly.

Warm soapy water, soak both brush and applicator into the bubbles and leave.  Use brush inside the barrel, leave to air dry. Job done.

Thank you so much for answering and for the advice.
You have helped immensely and I really appreciate it.

Just ordered some brushes on Amazon and now happier using the applicator.  :)

I have just started using this and find it does fill up if you keep squeezing. I use the syringe plunger to draw up the hot soapy water several times before separating the two parts and find that gets it clean but the brushes should do the trick. Agree the 'Ovestin' estriol applicator is much more user friendly though.

Thank you for letting me know. Hope you get on well using  the estriol 0.001% cream. I have only just started it too. Good tip about using the syringe plunger to draw up water. I will try that.

I appreciate your advice .😊

If you are putting the product up your vagina and the applicator is proving difficult, you may be better with a pessary that you can just insert with a finger. No mess or fiddly device to clean.

Or you could try the estring.

Yes, I thought about that. I will see how I get on with this and mention the pessaries to my GSM consultant.
Thanks for the advice.
