Question about vaginal walls
« on: January 06, 2025, 12:55:48 AM »

I have been dealing with some cuts internally for quite some time. They are taking awhile to heal.

On 7 weeks of Imvexxy now and once a week estragyn cream to put on the cuts  though have considered twice

The question I have is because I do a self vag video daily. What am I looking for in changes? The cuts I get but wondering would I see the walls less pale? Less thin? More pink? More lubricated?

I suggest that you get a Nurse to have a lookC.  VA treatment should heal any internal paper cuts.  Do U have similar anywhere else, i.e. ends of fingers or toes?  This may indicate a lack of a vitamen.

I take a bunch of vitamins daily. You name it I am taking it.

I also had blood tests done in Oct, checking for b12 and d levels which were normal.

My Gyneo is now off this week and I am not thrilled with the inability to make an appointment and see her when needed. I saw her three times with concerns and the last time I tried to book the receptionist told me “I have to talk to her to see if she needs to see you in person or talk on the phone”

I may go back to the GP but she had diagnosed me with Lichen. So concerned about her ability to do things.

Unfortunately our health care system especially for women really sucks. The only person that actually does listen is the naturopath but I pay out of pocket for that.

There's a message there: practitioners who charge will have time and may sell products that 'might help'.

Oh I agree.

I stumbled on my naturopath thru a friend going thru menopause as well.
She does specialize in menopause. And actually quite knowledgeable to formulas of estrogen and progesterone. If I went thru her she would do a script via a compounding pharmacy.

But no has not sold me in any products to help. That is not her thing. She may suggest adding vitamins. She asked my GP to run panels for my levels cuz GP is a little clueless.

She does prescribe Bhrt as well if I want it thru her. And yes listens and asks me questions.

Between 4 GP visits and 3 gyeno visits I still spent more time with the naturopath who genuinely does seem to care and want to find a solution.

You can probably find pictures of a healthy premenopausal vulva and vagina online - although maybe don't search at work 😉

Someone actually made a collection called "the great wall of vagina" but I don't know if it is freely available or if all the subjects are definitely healthy and premenopausal, some may have had disease states.

Try to find an ethnically matched image if possible for the most appropriate comparison.

I googled already lol nothing is coming up.

With vaginal estrogen does it return back to how it was before?

Mine did.  No  more soreness.  No more paper cuts.  Less urgency to P.  That is my warning, the area under my belly gets tight and aggravated = return to nightly treatment.  Sorted.

It's like hands for example, or heels: if regular moisotisor is applied the areas heal.

I am starting week 8 now.

Any changes have been subtle and slow. I guess I was hoping to wake up one day and feel nothing anymore but perhaps it’s too soon to tell.

I am taking progesterone at night, and Imvexxy twice a week and estragyn cream once or twice a week.

So fingers crossed

Sorry for popping this thread up.

I did not get much help with the Gyneo who prescribed me once a week Imvexxy (even though she said twice) and 1/4 applicator of Estragyn once a week.

I decided to use the cream in small amounts during the week versus waiting once a week. It feels nice and soothing, like a pea size amount.

I don’t have a dr to talk too cuz her script made no sense really. Nor did she really listen to my symptoms or listen to me. I got sent on my way and forced to fend for myself.

I am not sure if what I am doing is right. I can’t use a moisturizer at the moment due to a slow healing wound. And only working with what works at the moment

Is this okay? To use the cream in small amounts versus one large amount?

With topical oestrogen if you find a regime that works stick with it. Using topical oestrogen doesn't compare in any way to systemic oestrogen, you have more freedom in how you apply it. If what you are doing is helping then keep doing it.

I don’t even know who to talk to about this. The GP is not educated enough on menopause, the Gyneo won’t make time to see me.

I have the naturopath tomorrow who prob is the only person I could talk too.

I could pay $300 for a virtual menopause specialist but I guess I am concerned about the vagina area.

Next week is a specialist at a menopause clinic. Just thought I would be further along by now.

I am a fitness instructor & it has been a struggle for my own modified workouts nevermind leading others. So I have not been working and that has also taken a toll on me mentally. Cuz when I feel that burn I just want to do nothing.

I don’t know if the estrogen is working or not, do I need a higher dose, more frequency. Or change it all things I should be discussing with someone.

My vagina ph is still high but I can’t take boric acid cuz of the wound.

I still have bladder issues, frequency, waking up at night. Sometimes urethra burns after depending if urine is diluted. I have a post pee burn on a wound that is healing but slowly. I do have more moments of being comfortable but….

3 months will be at the end of the month of being on Imvexxy plus cream.

I was on vagifem in August but that is when the burn started prior to that I just had discomfort (dryness). Which is why I wondered if it was a chemical burn…

And I feel I am doing the exact same thing I did when all this started. I thought I would be further along.

I will speak to the naturopath about adding systematic estrogen (I already have been on progesterone since Nov 26).

All I want is to feel normal again and after all this time it starting to feel like that won’t ever happen.

.........Imvexxy twice a week and estragyn cream once or twice a week.
If you don't feel you're any further along than you were weeks ago, this may suggest that you're not using enough.

Did you do the 2 week daily use for a start or just go straight to the twice per week with the Imvexxy?

It can take four months for topical oestrogen to work and then up to a year to be free of all the burning, although going forwards you will get the odd flare up usually due to stress or an illness.

After approximately five years of treatment I still have to have daily treatment of a pessary and Estriol cream using a smear twice a day on the outside.
That's what it takes for some of us to control the symptoms.

I don't need any doctor to tell me how to use topical oestrogen, I have learned myself what is needed. I hope one day you will be able to buy over the counter so you don't have to go through all the crap that you seem be going through to get help with the symptoms of GSM.
