Really Low
« on: January 02, 2025, 04:31:24 PM »

Hi

I am beginning to think all my problems are not based on hormonal issues but on me as a person, people are so unsympathetic as this has gone on for years finally finding a GP who did bloods and came back as almost negligible for oestrogen and testosterone- I have no ovaries following hysterectomy at 38yrs old- due to PMT- am now 62 and still having mental blackouts- just go into free fall and nothing in life is ok then after 48hts bounce back.
I have Lenzetto spray which I have now been on for 2 years and Testogel which I have been on for 6 months- blood tests due tomorrow to check levels but whether high or low am anxious that nothing seems to be making a difference. I stopped work due to severe anxiety and brain fog, using all my savings to live on as unable to work which is stressing - I just feel life isn’t worth it when it could be like this for years… I exercise several times a week, try and join in with activities with friends but really struggle to force myself to get thru each day. I don’t sleep well despite being tired all the time. Any ideas anyone? I have had a meltdown this New Years Eve and my marriage is under fire now as I am so irritable and making life hard for us both.

Hi Tired.com

Really sorry to hear how you are feeling. What did you test results reveal?

Based on my own experiences and from reading other posts on here and getting advice from others it sounds like your oestrogen may be too low. Reading from others posts, Lenzetto is considered to be one of the weaker oestrogen options. Have you considered patches or gel? I don't know anything about testosterone levels I'm afraid, I am having mine measured in a few weeks. Is your GP helpful?

Can you perhaps work part time until you start to feel a bit more normal. Or even volunteer somewhere, just to get out and about and mix with others, no pressure then.

Have you read any of the threads on here about fatigue, magnesium and iron levels etc? I'm hoping someone with a lot more knowledge and years more experience will also reply to you.

Lack of sleep is so debilitating and once you sort that out, that will hopefully help matters, so I'd trawl through the sleep threads too.

Sorry I've not been very helpful, but I didn't want you to feel ignored or alone. You're not...so many of us are feeling the same or have done at some point. Hope you start to sleep better and feel more like you again very soon.

Hi sorry just seen reply - she forgot to test hormones - Althiugh levels last June were 308nmol but testosterone levels were back down to -0.1 so GP advised to increase Lenzetto to 4 pumps in a difference place )arms) and use more testogel on inner thigh- so done that for 4 weeks and results are as follow
Estradiol 1939 nmol
Testosterone 7.7
What the heck - had a text from GP to reduce both but can’t speak to her… tbh am feeling good At moment, still not sleeping and have headaches but manage to function and have started a part time job..
I can’t win with this - just want to be back to normal instead of relying on chemicals to make my body work.

It's The Change - does what it says on the tin.  Many think that menopause is the loss of periods and a few flushes. It's the years prior to the final bleed ....... which symptom would U like to ease first?

Has your GP/Nurse Practitioner done recent blood tests for VitD, Thyroid Function etc. as we shouldn't blame everything onto peri..  Also if a stem is left behind when ovaries are removed, they can still pump out small amounts of oestrogen.

Due to hormonal ups and downs you R unlikely to get 'back to normal' what ever that might be.  As for your marriage, time to have The Talk.  Is this your take on the situation because U feel ratty etc., or has your husband made comments? Most of our hormonal issues cannot be helped, sometimes its an instant reaction - I still have guilt about some of my tantrums  :'( :-\

Why would your GP expect U to reduce your regime without a face2face appt.?  Our bodies are all chemicals, sometimes we are really aware of them!

All other results are fine - just these ones so will reduce as requested by text by GP- seeing another GP in two weeks for frozen shoulder so might speak to them… although he was really bothered that  I was using Nytol every night to sleep …
Our GO’s are usually so good but am beginning to feel a nuisance as these issues have been going on for years ….

They are paid to listen and treat!  Don't ever feel guilty.  How long since U had VitD checks etc.?  4 me I would do 20 mins weeding then have to sit absolutely still for 2 hours  :-\ due to very low VitD levels - even though we walk and garden int he sunshine!

Nytol  :sick02: :pills: - U could try alternate nights for a while and worry less about not sleeping on the night that U don't use.  I found non-drowsy anti-histamines worked - 3 nights and then my pattern was OK again.

And there is no time limit on peri-menopause or grieving so no one should feel stressed at asking for assistance.  After all, GPs are there to find solutions or to refer when necessary.

It's amazing you are getting that much E from Lenzetto because it's very low dose.

Personally, I slathered myself with 12 pumps of Oestrogel and still was only around 400pmol.

With the sleep issues, I wonder if you would benefit from being on P as well? Whilst you don't have a uterus to protect with it, many women really appreciate P for the sleep benefits and find that they need it. It may be the missing piece of the puzzle if your GP is happy to prescribe...

Hopefully your mood will lift by morning.  I feel worse 1st thing, don't want to get out of my cuddly bed ...... once dressed, washed etc. I can face b.fast then Get On. I find meeting people when out walking helps too though I do prefer 2-3 hours in our garden, 'doing'.
