Swapping between everol 75 and 50
« on: December 29, 2024, 09:06:27 AM »

I have been on everol 75 for a few years and it’s been great but recently I have had very painful boobs and serious weight gain, my gp has told me I’m oestrogen dominant and has reduced my dose to 50.
After a couple of months on the lower dose, the breast pain has gone (no weight loss!) but some of my previous symptoms have returned - mainly anxiety and that horrible rage. So I’ve just gone back to 75 (had patches left).
Has anyone else experienced this and swapped between 2 doses? I think I’d rather live with the breast pain than the other symptoms.

"Estrogen dominance" is an odd term for a GP to use.

Whilst estrogen can cause breast tenderness, think about the time in your adult life when you were slimmest, and what estrogen levels you would have had.

Have you explored any other causes of weight gain such as thyroid issues, other medication or change in circumstances leading to either increased energy intake or reduced expenditure?

You could always try an intermediate dose by cutting off one edge of the 75mcg patch to reduce its area by about a quarter.

There may also be scope to modify the progestogenic component if relevant.

Additionally I was given a tip many years ago by a very well renowned gynaecologist about taking evening primrose oil capsules and a vitamin B complex to get rid of premenstrual breast pain.

I didn't think anything available over the counter would be worth s*** but decided to humour him and try them.

It worked so well that I was no longer getting any warning when old aunt Flo was about to show her ugly face, and got caught short a few times!

I had similar breast pain when I went from 75 to 100, and an unmanageable increase in dry eyes and nose. My GP suggestion was to cut a 25 patch in half, so a dose of 87.5. Worked quite well. Also, the breast pain resolved after a few weeks of higher dose, it can be temporary while you adjust I think. Good luck!
