Sore mouth
« on: December 19, 2024, 05:52:19 PM »

Been on Testosterone (androfeme) for about 4 weeks now, last week I've had a very sore mouth, particularly the roof of my mouth.

I'm on 100mg Everol patch and take Progesterone for 2 weeks of cycle.

It's really getting me down.  I'm wondering if it's the T? I'm feeling better in all other areas so would be such a shame to stop but I can't carry on with this, it's very painful.

Thank you

What's in your toothpaste? Sodium Laural Sulphate, the foaming agent, causes my burning mouth: particularly with chocolate, bananas, butter - to the point that I am unable to eat.  Is there an ulcer on the roof of your mouth, if so try Bonjela

As well as it being The Time of Year do show a Pharmacist with your HRT regime if you can't access your dental surgery.

Is there any info in the leflet in the box?  Let. us know how you get on.

Thanks CLKD, re toothpaste I realised this a few years ago when I broke out in mouth ulcers so use one without now - makes me mad to see sensitive toothpastes with this Sh*t ingredient in still in them.  No this started just under a week ago when I drank a very hot drink, but is not getting any better. At same time we had more radiators installed as house not getting warm enough, I'm wondering if it's drying me out further.  I can't see any ulcers just looks red.

Leaflet mentions swollen mouth, tongue from allergy but would have thought you would get that straight away?

Omg this meno thing is killing me slowly, it's just one thing after another  :((((

Have U tried bonjela?  It will form a barrier between liquids/foods - do show to a pharmacist perhaps?

Hi flamingo. This sounds very uncomfortable. There are vitamin deficiencies that can cause sore mouth and also anaemia. Could it be oral thrush? This can present as either red or white patches. I believe the guidelines are that any sore patches inside the mouth which last longer than three weeks should be medically investigated. A dentist would have a look for you. Have you had a dental check up recently? Maybe also ask your pharmacist too.

Flamingo, what you are describing is very common with menopause, generic hormone fluctuations and anxiety and depression and it's often the roof of the mouth that is affected.  Often a sore or painful mouth is actually burning mouth syndrome which can either move to different sites or be concentrated in one place.  Some women get recurring ulcers.  I've had the lot for years now.

Is the pain constant of does it come and go?  BMS usually gets worse as the day progresses and then calms down in the evening.
