Oestrogen detoxification GS
« on: December 19, 2024, 01:09:03 PM »

Hi ladies,

If anyone has Gilbert's syndrome and is on hrt -be careful! Saw GP & my bilirubin has increased quite a bit after starting estradiol gel back in March.  Previously I thought gel wouldn't affect the liver but apparently it is still processed the same. Explains a lot!  I've now been advised to drop to 1 pump. Is one pump and 100mg progesterone daily still fine? Will this likely mean less or more bleeding? Big thanks to those who suggested continous progesterone as oh my goodness I literally haven't broken down in tears once since stopping the cyclical approach. Going from feeling suicidal every 4 weeks it's quite unbelievable how one tweak can make such a difference! X

Who is overseeing the 'Gilbert's syndrome?  MayB it's time to get an appt for a dedicated menopause clinic?

Your body will let you know if your new regime is enough.

I was on 1 pump plus 100mg of Utrogestan daily for the 20 mths I was on HRT and never had any problems.

I also have Gilbert's Syndrome but interestingly the only time my bilirubin level has been within normal range was in a blood test I had in Aug when I had been on HRT for 18mths.

Flowerpoint - Glad to hear you were okay on one pump- that's very reassuring indeed as 2 pumps is way too much so hopefully one pump will be ok...

Very interesting that you were in normal range  being on a lower dose of hrt- I read somewhere that it depends upon how many genetic mutations you have in terms of whether you're ok with detoxifying oestrogen.

CKLD - gp is much only option who is very supportive and come up with a few suggestions things a bit more manageable. No menopause clinics as live in a very remote area unfortunately!
