Just had a bout of thrush again, self diagnosed and oral tablet of fluconazole from chemist that has worked. Been free of it for over 18 months but been suffering with anxiety lately because of palpatations so wasn't surprised. I've been anxious since October when the palpatations started but they are now settling so was a bit surprised I'd not had thrush before as it was stress induced last time. That got me thinking could it be caused by something else. I recently started eating a lot of greek yogurt again for breakfast with live cultures inc lactobacillus, I've not eaten it for a long while. I know it's supposed to be good for thrush with the live cultures but maybe not always, especially if you have a lower immune system caused by anxiety or illness.
I googled, as you do and came up with this:
Cytolytic vaginosis.
Symptoms of lactobacillus overgrowth, also known as cytolytic vaginosis, include:
Itching or irritation of the vulva
Abnormal vaginal discharge that is white or yellowish
Painful urination (dysuria)
Painful sexual intercourse (dyspareunia)
Red and inflamed vulvar skin
A burning sensation.
Might just be coincidence but I will not be eating anymore. Thought I'd post as I know there's a few of us suffer with thrush. Usually we're advised to eat more yoghurt to get rid of it which might not alway be the right answer and could be making it worse.
When I had recurring thrush 18 months ago I ate lots of greek yoghurt to try to help but it just kept coming back.
