Don't know whether I'm going bonkas but:
A few months back my dog (who's nearly 14) developed a limp. Off to the vets. Arthritis diagnosed, pain killers prescribed.
Now, I don't like the idea of long term pain relief because I think it does something weird to the stomach, so I try him on a natural oil-based supplement. After three weeks (where I've been carrying him around a lot), he's much better and back to his old self. Hurrah.
And then I get to thinking 'If it works for the dog, then maybe it'll work for me' (osteoarthritis). I do consider just squirting his supplement on my food, but then decide to plump for high quality olive oil (2 x tablespoons daily) and eating loads of fish.
After two weeks the pains in my knees (that have plagued me for years) have vanished. Literally, I have no idea where they've gone. Similarly, when I wake up in the mornings there's no stiffness and I'm not struggling to bend so that I can walk down the stairs.
To my question: can a very very lazy Mediterranean diet (just drink olive oil and eat tuna lunch pots) work?
