Evorel Conti 25 Brown Yuck
« on: December 02, 2024, 03:33:19 PM »

Thought I would post on here to see what others experiences are like…..I’ve been on Evorel Conti since the end of May this year. When I went to my appointment I had just come to the expiration of my contraceptive implant which I had removed a month or so after starting HRT.

I’m 51 and hadn’t had a ‘period’ as such for 12+ months which whilst having the implant was normal for me. The lady that I saw explained that I may well experience bleeding when the implant was removed. Well fast forward to early November this year, with me thinking I was out of the woods in the period game and BAM flow came to town!!! Bright red and heavy at first, then over the course of the next seven days petering off to a brownish dischargy type affair. This then stopped and I carried on as normal, little did I know that about three days later it would start again, albeit not as heavy. I am now at the point where I have a brown type discharge everyday on the tissue when I wipe after a wee and I have to wear a pad which has some on it also.

I have been to the doctors today and she has referred me to the two week gyno department, it is freaking me out a little bit to be honest so any information/experiences that other have had would be greatly received ☺️

UPDATE: I have been to see the nurse at the menopause clinic and she seemed quite comfortable with what I was describing in terms of my bleed and the lovely brownness that it produced (this has now stopped altogether for now at least, I will keep my fingers crossed on that front) we agreed that I was more than likely peri menopausal and she has changed my HRT to the sequential variety and I am seeing her again in 6 months. I cannot express enough how lovely she is and extremely thorough and empathic, something which I am extremely grateful for

That's OK the 2/3 weeks pathway is to get ladies examined - once that's done medication can be discussed and prescribed.

:welcomemm:  browse round.  Some1 will be along soon with more advice.  I would have very heavy, excruciatingly painful periods: 10 days on, 10 days off.  At the end of each bleed I would miss two days then get a brown stain which as it was cyclical, was 'within normal limits' 4 me.

Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary of use to take to appts. etc..

Thank you for your reply…..my ‘periods’ on my implant were very similar, would start off red then change to a darkish brown in colour and very erratic and very light to say the least. It’s the whole scenario of menopause, am I peri, am I meno, period on, period off, you literally don’t know where you are with it all :o

Especially when taking HRT.  Peri menopause are those years when we may notice changes to mood, periods, energy levels leading to the last period = menopause.  However, we are advised to count at least 12 months as Mother Nature can throw in a bleed when we least expect it, meaning that we have to begin counting all over again  ::)

How do U feel overall?  Which symptom would you like to ease with replacement?

Exactly that, you think you are in one part of it then it all changes.  I always thought that having the implant would mask my symptoms and it certainly didn't help, as such, with keeping track of my periods as they all but stopped the whole time I had it, they were very sporadic. I suppose the menopause journey and HRT is somewhat similar to that of the contraceptive journey, I could never get on with the pill at all, tried the copper coil and that was horrendous, made me flood terribly and gave me thrush!!! I eventually settled on the implant and had no problem with it at all.

I feel ok overall, I have just noticed the tiredness more than anything, random muscle pains here and there and also itchy ears.  I also have times where I have neck pain which leads to what I can only described as a migraine of sorts which I feel is almost cyclical.  When the lady at the menopause clinic asked me I said that I felt like I had become a somewhat fuzzy shadow of my former self and then I burst into tears! I would say the tiredness is the main symptom that I would like to ease more than anything.

I am a regular gym goer 2-3 times a week and I keep on top of my supplements including one for menopause.  I would say that I eat pretty decently.

The trials and tribulations of womanhood ayyyyy!  :o

Tiredness may be due to a problem with thyroid function or low VitD levels.  We shouldn't blame everything on menopause.

Soooooo, the brown yuck is still there if only when I go to the loo and wipe, it’s majorly less than at first but still there nonetheless. I have changed my HRT to Evorel Sequi.

I have been to the hospital today for my 2 week gynae appointment and after having explained my situation and having her examine me (which was a joy….NOT!) she confirmed there was blood etc still there but said she thought it was my HRT that was causing the bleeding but has referred me for a scan and possible Hysteroscopy thereafter.

She did talk about having a Mirena fitted which I’m not sure about as I tried the copper coil some years ago and it was horrendous to say the least and I had to have it removed - my menopause nurse suggested the same thing when I went to my first appointment with her, I don’t really understand the difference between Mirena and just having the patches aside from the benefit of the coil helping with the bleeding (for reference the previous coil I had made me flood)
