Evorel Conti - bleeding after 7 months - could it be...
« on: November 27, 2024, 04:54:54 PM »

I've been using evorel conti patches for 7 months, with no unwanted side effects until I started bleeding this morning - very like the start of a period (which I haven't had for 2 years!) I was wondering, could it possibly be because I placed my patch on my lower tummy yesterday, instead of at the top of my thigh, as I have done since I started them? Any advice? Should I be contacting my GP, or not yet? Should I move the patch back to my thigh?

How much blood are you seeing?  MayB put the patch where you had it initially.  It may be that your ovaries have been triggered - is there anything in the leaflet in the box?

Certainly patches can have unpredictable absorption if the site is changed, more commonly if the patches are coming partially or fully unstuck.

However as you have been two years bleed free, and are outwith the first few months of starting HRT, I would advise seeing your GP, as guidelines recommend postmenopausal bleeding should be assessed.

This may involve a watch and wait approach or a scan, depending on your individual risk profile. It does not mean you have to stop your HRT.

Thank you both, it is quite light but still ongoing. I'm due a patch change today, so will go back to original site and if bleeding continues over weekend, I will contact GP on Monday. Thought my old ovaries were long since retired now, the little b*ggers! I even threw out all my tampons😆

Hello Harlequinnyc and welcome to the forum.

I don't think you can blame your ovaries for your bleeding lol. It is likely a result of your HRT.

Your GP may refer you for a scan which will check that your womb lining is nice and thin and that there aren't any polyps or fibroids that could be causing the problem.

I have twice been in a similar position to you and both times my tests were okay and the bleeding attributed to my HRT. Both times I lowered my dose and the bleeding resolved.

I hope this helps you and take care.

K.
