Ryeqo
« on: November 05, 2024, 09:18:40 AM »

Hi, it's my first post here.

I am 60 years of age and have had 9 years of different symptoms of muscle pain, headaches, signus pain, hot flushes etc. I am being evaluated for Fibromyalgia and have been sent to a Menopause Clinic where I have been given the option of trying Ryeqo to see if this helps. I have been given this hrt as I suffered from severe endometriosis so did to take a form of hrt containing progesterone.

I just wondered if any other postmenopausal ladies have begun this treatment and if it helped. I keep reading that a lady of my age should not start hrt (including from a paramedic.) My consultant tells me I am at low risk, although my mother had a stroke at 52 due to high blood pressure and I take tablets for blood pressure.

Hi Bunny23. Welcome!

I have had a quick search of previous threads on here and can find no mention of Ryeqo so you might be the first! I've never heard of it before but I see it is definitely recommended for the treatment of fibroids and endometriosis. It does say that it is for reproductive women not post menopausal but quite often these things are prescribed depending on your overall health. Although you have high blood pressure this is controlled by your tablets so I believe this means you can have it.

Even if you didn't have endometriosis you would have to use an HRT with progesterone in order to keep your womb lining thin - unless you have had a hysterectomy.

Hopefully someone else will be along soon with more knowledge but I hope the Ryeqo is beginning to work for you. There are others on here who have begun HRT over the age of 60 and it's made such a difference to their lives. I am still on it at 70 but did start at the age of 53. I intend to stay on it as long as possible!

Thank you Taz2 for your reply. After more research I have found it's a quite expensive drug so I feel fortunate to be offered it.
