Hi, thanku for letting me join. I’m 53, diagnosed with breast cancer 2019, had a single mastectomy followed by implant and just finished 5 yr stint on tamoxifen; no other treatment required thank goodness (HRT not recommended). First visited my Dr 2 years ago with a mixture of symptoms. Was told I was probably perimenopausal. During this period, I found about 3 times I bled every 6 months and have a massive bleed for next 2 ish months. I’ve always been regular. Not all the time I don’t feel human and experience:
Itchy skin
Emotional
Muscle/joint pain
Memory loss
Fatigue/low energy levels
Mood swings
Loss of self esteem
Anxiety/panicky
Loss of interest in appearance
Not wanting to socialise
I’ve made another GP appt but I’m nervous of putting myself forward and loss of words to explain how I feel to be told there’s nothing can be done. Don’t want to be on antidepressants, unsure about counselling.
I’m taking Vit B, glucosamine, Vit D, tablet for healthy skin, hair and nails.
I found this forum through a booklet on breast cancer and menopausal symptoms.
Can anybody provide any advice and guidance please. Thank you for taking the time to read my rather long story 😁🙄

How did U get on with the Tamoxifen?

If HRT - which many of us will require - is so dangerous or likely to trigger breast disease, why are women not advised to have bilateral mastectomy?  What happened to Quality of Life?

R your symptoms cynical in the main?  Do read the threads about bladder issues and vaginal atrophy.

My periods waxed and waned for several years ..... regular, less blood, disappeared for months ; repeat, repeat then gone!  After which I had cold flushes from the neck downwards after my bath, with itching due to loss of oestrogen.  I use 'vaseline' lotion in the yellow bottle or Nivea which helps soothe the skin.

Your symptoms are 'common' for many of us.  MayB keeping a mood/food/symptom diary will be of use and helpful in opening any conversations with your GP/Nurse Practitioner.

VitD is important 2 take.  Gentle exercise.  'me' Time.  Ask away!

Welcome Heidilou, I can't help you directly and with your issues being so complex my best advice is to start by using the search box here for any information that will help you and any other questions you may have post them in the 'All Things Menopause' page, its the most viewed.

Hello HeidiLou and welcome to the forum.

All your experiences can be attributed to the menopause so you are not alone!

Perhaps write a list of your symptoms and concerns and read that to the GP at your appointment.

A Senior Nurse Practitioner runs a meno clinic at my GP surgery and she tells me that some ladies are offered Pregabalin to help with the emotional symptoms of the menopause.

I hope this helps you and take care.

K.
