I am post menopause and am on

Utrogestan  100 mg  capsules
Vaginally.

Everol  50 patch

Estriol 0.01%  vaginal cream

How long does it take for the  Utrogestan,  and the  estriol to aborb vaginally, I ask as I am going to the bathroom a lot, I am worried the hrt is not taking effect, also do you use them at the same time,

The utro i carnt coment on as im post meno.. but the crean depending on you when i started i felt benefits within a week.. but 2 yrs in so so much better..be patient hun ..gd luck

The utrogestan is absorbed from the vagina over about 4-6 hours.

It is best inserted at night when you go to bed, then you are lying down and it doesn't come out.

You can apply estriol cream at the same time if you want. They don't interfere with each other.

If you have significant VA and it is painful to insert the utrogestan, you can take it orally instead.

This is also best at night as it can make you sleepy when taken orally.

If your urogenital symptoms haven't resolved after 3 months of use I would see your GP to discuss stepping up treatment as vaginal estrogen is often prescribed and applied as if it is radioactive rather than something healthy young women produce bucketloads of.

I was just worried if I go to the bathroom it will come out, also I have heard I don’t have to use the applicator with the estriol cream , I can apply with fingers ??
Doctor says I  am best to take utrogestan vaginally, I tried it orally a few years ago and I had side effects.
 
Good to know I can use the cream and utrogestan at the same time.

I used to take utrogestan 3 x daily during IVF (vaginal use).

Morning and night I did at home.

Lunchtime, because nobody at my work knew I was going through IVF, I would drive somewhere quiet in my car, lie on the back seat, insert the pessary and lie for about 30-45 minutes.

It was fine, that was long enough for it to do what it needed to and nothing significant came back out.

Just a quick thought—your estriol a lower dose formulation. The 0.1% is more standard and available so not sure why the lower one was prescribed? Probably a good reason but wanted to point it out.

Also, for bladder symptoms you might want to consider adding a vaginal oestrogen in tablet form (Vagifem/rux or Gina) as it gets closer to the urinary tract and bladder. I use both cream (daily) and Vagifem twice weekly. There’s no systemic absorption, just works locally.

I hope someone can help me. I use oestrogel and mirena coil for HRT which has been working well. Funding changes to my GP practice mean that they can no longer give mirenas to over 55 year olds 😔. I am thinking about a change to the combined patch but want to keep progesterone dose as low as possible due to a tendency to migraines. Any advice welcome please . Thank you

If the Mirena has been working well for you, you should get another fitted if you want to. Some places don't want to fit coils except for contraceptive use, which makes zero sense.

It might be worth going to a private menopause clinic to get one fitted. It would be worth it as it would cover you for 5 years.

Hi,
I had my third mirena coil fitted last year when I was 57, for HRT, privately by a Gynaecologist at my local Bupa Hospital. It was far easier that way for me. It wasn’t as expensive as I thought it would be and the total cost was just under £300. The GP and Nurse at my surgery can't find my cervix as it’s tilted (and they gave up) so I didn’t bother about asking them to try and insert a mirena.
I’m not with BUPA and self funded.

It may be worth looking into?
When mine needs to be replaced, I’d have no hesitation in going back to BUPA.

My gp agreed to a mirena at 63 (closed cervix so didn't actually get it fitted).
