3month HRT review
« on: October 24, 2024, 12:23:22 PM »

Just had my HRT review which was lovely and relaxed.
I was originally on 2pumps of oestrogel but went up to 3pumps after 6 wks. Some symptoms have disappeared, some have got slightly better and some haven't changed.
We have decided to try and increase to 4pumps for at least 6-8wks to see if that makes a difference.
I am also going to get bloods checked to see if I need testosterone.
All sounds positive.

I would recommend not upping the extra pump all at once.  MayB one night 2 C how your body reacts, U may need every 4th night initially so that your body takes up the hormone in a gentle way.

Let us know how you get on - U can continue on this thread ;-).

I never thought about that. I was OK starting on 2 pumps then going up to 3pumps after 7wks.
I have a funeral tomorrow and working weekend so will wait til Monday to increase.

I disagree with this approach!  If a GP has suggested an increase of a pump then surely this is the way to go? My GP has never suggested missing days, only whole pump increases.

JS79 - sounds like you have a lovely GP. I'm lucky that I do too.

However Suziemc - some women who get reactions on higher doses stop rather than taking an 'alternative' approach thinking that 'this isn't going to work'.  It's an idea that can be used/not.

Evening, I haven't been feeling great last couple of weeks, think it started with an ear infection or maybe covid but been lingering for a couple of weeks so still haven't went up to 4 pumps. Still haven't asked GP if they will do my testosterone blood test.
So very stressed,  feel like crap and my period was due last Tuesday but still not arrived.
I think in my head I'm still hoping for some kind of magic wand 😢

Still feeling rubbish, I tried 4 pumps for a week but felt worse. My hot/cold flushes had disappeared but came back, my fatigue was worse so I stopped and went back to 3pumps.
My GP won't do my blood tests but will look into testosterone prescription if its needed. I am going through Newson for my bloods but doing the home kit, no point paying extra to go to a private clinic when I'm surrounded by people at work and home who can and do take bloods. I was advised just to get testosterone and SHBG levels checked but I'm paying the little extra to get everything checked ad been advised some of my symptoms could be vitamin deficiency. I know I'm vit do insufficient and been supplementing since Feb but been told it's a very low dose for my levels so will be interested to see if levels have come up. My B12 levels were just in the normal range(for my NHS area) and told not to supplement.
My last period was Oct 2nd, still taking my utrogestan 14 days on and off.
I think my symptoms may be a mixture of a few conditions.

Your GP should be aware that he/she is unable to prescribe testosterone unless it's advised by a consultant so mayB that's why he/she is stalling?

Have U asked Newson health ?  Let us know how you get on!

I'm getting bloods doen through newson who will then decide if I need testosterone, if so my GP will prescribe based on their recommendations.
