VA and all its symptoms
« on: October 18, 2024, 03:41:08 PM »

Hi All
Just wondering if the VA dryness gives anyone else that dragging underneath, end of period feeling as well as the external burn?
Also, does anyone else get lower back pain with it or is that just ‘old ages aches and pains’!
I’ve started ovestin 2 nights ago so fingers (and legs) crossed this awful sensation subsides.

Hi!  Use every night for 2-3 weeks.  One can smear a little around the labia/vulva/urethra too.  It's a bit Trial and Error but does work, given time.

Oh I remember that dragging feeling like my bottom was going to fall out  :o  >:( can't remember which time of the cycle that happened.

When I get VA symptoms I swallow 2 Nurofen 3 times a day, have U thought to try pain relief?

Thank you for replying CLKD.

I will try a couple of neurofen after dinner tonight and see if that helps with back pain.

I really hope the burning, dragging, general ‘what on earth’s going on down there’ feeling responds to the ovestin because I’m not too sure where to put myself for comfort right now.

Hopefully the pain relief will ease symptoms.  There R a lot of nerve endings 'down there' ....... I expect after 3-4 nights U should feel better and once treatment kicks in, so long as U keep up with treatment, U will forget about the symptoms.

Mine niggle below the belly button so I know when I need to go back to nightly insertion.

A dragging sensation and low back pain suggests more than vaginal atrophy.

Absolutely continue with the estrogen but I would make an appointment for an examination to exclude other conditions such as a prolapse.

That's the problem with VA, it throws up all kinds of other symptoms you think it might be.  I assumed I had a prolapse because of not being able to sit down with pain and discomfort, got examined and thankfully it was just a case of needing oestrogen down there, typical VA symptoms.

Use the treatment daily if needed and expect it to take at least four months to take effect but ruling out a prolapse would be a good thing to do.

As oestrogen levels drop muscles may become lax = aches and pains, also the body may become dry: inside and out  ::)

I agree with that too. See a GP or get a referral to a women’s  pelvic physio for an internal examination.

The Chartered Society of Physiotherapists have a list of physiotherapists should you want to go privately. There is a facility to find one locally to you on their website.

I do remember being relieved that mine wasn't a prolapse because it certainly felt like it, good to get things like that ruled out along the horrid VA (GSM) journey.

Sounds like prolapse!

See Women's Physio to check and give you Pelvic Floor exercises!...?

Best!
