Breast pain!
« on: October 09, 2024, 12:56:39 AM »

Hello!

I'm in my 60's and for the past couple of months, I've been experiencing breast pain. My mammogram showed nothing, and I even started to worry it was my heart, but my heart tests so far show nothing.

Anyone else experience this?

Thanks for listening.

Hormones can cause all kinds of aches and pains  ::)

If it reassures you, I was referred to the breast clinic for more checks and an ultrasound about 10 years ago and I also was experiencing breast pain and talked to them about that. They said it's pretty rare for breast pain to be caused by cancer. Sore boobs can happen due to all kinds of hormonal changes and situations, but are not really correlated with cancer.

You might want to try some evening Primrose Oil and also some regular low dose iodine supplements, which are supposed to also be good for one's boobs...

Are you on HRT? If so, sometimes the estrogen can cause breast pain. If you have any other symptoms of high estrogen, you could try reducing your dose and see.. sometimes women need lower doses as they get older.

Awwwww.... thank you so much for your kind remarks and information. I appreciate it. It's been a busy week, because my doctor sent me to a cardiologist - just to be safe. They both think the pain I feel is more muscular, but they are doing tests to be sure. So I also had a heart echo and in a few weeks I have another test.

The breast pain started up about 6 months ago. I am in my 60's and on no medication, other than for acid reflux. I can just be sitting watching TV and all of a sudden I will feel a pain in one of my breasts. It goes away fast, though. But then I can feel a pain in my right breast. So I will go days with no pain, but a pain can show up in either breast right out of the blue and then go away fast - often when I change my position.

Sometimes I feel pain around my breast, or at the bottom - and it all hurts to the touch.

My mammograms are clear, so far my heart tests are good. I find the pain just seems to scare me, mostly.

My family doctor wants me to come back after the heart tests, so that we can explore other possibilities. Could just be hormones.

Thanks for listening and sharing.

That's fine. Mine are sudden, sharp pains which are gone in an instant or a soreness in various areas.  Usually the side that I had the surgery on  ::) but as symptoms don't last for more than a short while and my mammogram recently was 'normal', I'm not too bothered.

It may be hormones ....... which continue to rise and fall for years  ::)

That sounds very similar to the pains that I was getting. Short sharp stabby pains. They went away after a while, so who knows what they were. It was reassuring to get checked out at the breast clinic anyway. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate it. I also get pain at the bottom of my breasts. Like I feel pain, and when I touch the underside of my breasts it hurts to the touch. I'm seeing my doctor in a few weeks to discuss all this again.
