Symptoms That Go With Peri-Menopause - HRT and Additional Help
« on: September 30, 2024, 06:56:56 PM »

Hey Ladies  :)

So, I am on the following HRT and have been for about 12 months since i started the peri-m stage -
(Progesterone) - Gepretix tablets - 100mg daily for days 1 to 25 of cycle then 3 day break.
(Oestrogen) - Sandrena gel - 1mg daily,

I turned 50 years old this year but feel soooo tired/lethargic all the time and my joints are stiff resulting in finding it hard to move. I am overweight and really don't know how to lose weight.
There are days when I can be just 'horrible' to my partner, he can do no right and I just pick pick pick at him being quite outspoken (which I never use to be)
My periods appear to be still regular but each month I am getting horrendous stomach ache, almost like contractions at times - I use to breeze through my periods each month without too much hassle.

What is going on here, I am becoming a person I don't like or recognise and don't know how to stop.
I thought of visiting a Holland & Barrett shop to see if there is anything to help with the above mentioned problems, especially the constant tiredness and weight gain (I can truly say I hate myself and the way I look/am at the moment)

Can anyone relate to anything I've said and come up with a miracle!
Thank you in anticipation....

Hormones  >:(

It may B that you aren't on the 'correct' dose of replacements to suit your symptoms.

As oestrogen levels drop the body may become dry: inside and out; deep in the ears, scalp, skin, vagina, nostrils, eyes ..... and muscles may become lax = aches and pains.  During my menstruating years I suffered excruciating cramps/contractions which The Pill got rid of.  I still had rages though  :( :-X

Do tell your partner that this is hormonal.  MayB get a bean bag to thump when U R angry.  Is this cyclical, issues that I would put to 1 side would suddenly become The Thing B4 a bleed ....... and I would strip paper off walls  :argue: :cuss:  Once the period started, all would be painful but calm.  Until the next month!

When did U last have a full blood count to include VitD levels and thyroid function because weight gain and tiredness can be a symptom that the thyroid is out of kilter.  We shouldn't initially blame everything on peri.  Thyroid being a hormone may in some women become uppitty !  [sorry , tired, can't string 2 words together ]

Alternatives may help but when hormones take over, benefits often become lost.  How is your diet overall?
