Did any1 know about this ?  Ends today.  Apparently 

I haven't read anything in the media nor has there been anything on local News though I may have missed some evenings as our TV aerial won't pick up stations  . And our aerial man is away for 2 weeks 

That aside, having been on the donor register for many years and having updated my profile yesterday ............ and I wear an SOS bangle with my allergy listed plus 'donor register' added.  In all the years that I have worn this, not 1 medic has asked me why

Organ Donation Week (23-27 September 2024) is a week long campaign that takes place every year, raising awareness about the ongoing need for organ donors.

This year, the NHS Organ Donor Register also turns 30.

I thought they changed it so you have to opt out if you don't want them to use bits of you? Always good that relatives know your views though. I have no issue with organs but I wouldn't want someone else wearing my face or hand (they probably wouldn't want it either 😅).

Even though you've joined the register relatives still have the final say and if they haven't been told by the person that they are on the register they are often too shocked and then refuse. It does advise on that relatives are made aware. That's true ......... MinL was horrified when in the 1970s we put our names onto Donor Cards !!  I am all yours  .........

Until it comes to disposing of the bits they don't want. Then you're your relatives.

If bodies are left for medical science then the bodies are disposed in a group with a memorial arranged for those who want to attend.

This depends on which medical school you choose as they have different policies. Also they won't accept a body which has had organs donated.

It seems quite complicated with different medical schools having different requirements. Looks like you have to be in quite good health when you die!
