Steroid injection
« on: September 04, 2024, 07:41:35 PM »

Hi ladies.

I'm looking for some advice please.

I have a sore ankle (tight feeling, like a band around ankle) and I have an apt to go and get MRI results from consultant. He said depending on results steroid injections in my feet may be the best option. I'm in a complete panic at the thought of this. Can steroid injections cause hair loss?

Could anyone tell me their experience of having a steroid injection please or can I ask for anything less invasive. Could shock wave therapy work?  He gave me insoles which I've struggled to wear as they're so hard. Thanks for your help.

People freak at the word 'steroid' ........ Depo Medrone is the usual injection offered, a bit like WD40 into the joints.  Adds a little 'jelly' between the joints = easing of pain.

I've never considered that DM would cause hair loss, having held many a man's hand prior to them having the injection ;-) in the 1980s.

Why would shock wave therapy be any better than a proven injection which has been used for many years.

MayB hot/cold water therapy would help, a bowl of deep hot and one of cold water, putting the feet into each above the ankle bones: wriggle foot around.  From hot into cold into hot ........

When did U have the MRI?

I've had a steroid injection iny tail bone. Yip. U read that right. I clearly broke it during childbirth and  it fused in wrong way.

Anyway, the I section was painful, given where it was! And I could g sit down for two weeks. Lol.

That was years ago now and I had no side affects. Definitely no hate loss. And, despite not being very appealing because of where it is, I will have another one if I ever feel I need it.

Hope that helps. X
